I finally wrestled Odessa off my turntable this week. I've been randomly listening to any one of it's four sides for over a year since buying the reissue during a Luxuria findraiser.
@Uncle Michael: I'm going through a career-encompassing Bee Gees phase, and I've concluded that Barry Gibb should be included in any discussion of the best popular music songwriters of the 20th century.
This is the second time Odessa has come up in conversation today for me. Earlier, a friend mentioned she named her cat "Odessa," and I wondered if the cat was red with really short fur.
@Little Danny: Thanks! I also got to recommend the album to the folks I was talking to because they didn't know it. So sad! But maybe happy because now they can go learn it and love it.
"Nights on Broadway" is a fabulous song, whether performed by The Bee Gees or Candi Station. The call-and-response alone is worth the price of admission.
60s BGs crazy good. Some of that Freakbeat every bit as eccentric as pre-huge Bowie... & Pop writing yeah - man they got on the radio with that - my earliest years. Goes deep.
Disco was a Social Phenomenon on one hand - & on the other just one style of Pop~Funk forms...
The social experience of it was I think almost opposite for Urban & Rural (like here) people... In the City it was racially integrated, gay & druggy
...& out here corporate saturation & the jocks & yet dad wanting to be Travolta...no Live music anymore & that one high-hat beat seemed like seven years!!...
Ah Scorpio brother Johnny R...
@Little Danny: When they left Los Brincos it was a great example of addition by subtraction! It left two great group, as Los Brincos were still vital after losing J&J.

Here we go. Is this Alllan Clarke or Graham Nash? Or both?
WOW, can not find that The Farmers Boys tune anywhere on an initial scan through the interwebs...must dig further...Loving this whole set of music Gaylord - as usual. Thank you for a lovely coda to my Sunday.
