This Brock piece is quite lovely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm

Hello Sasha, Red Kayak and others!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
Little Danny:

The lushest fraternal harmonies going, god I love the early 'Gees.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm

I finally wrestled Odessa off my turntable this week. I've been randomly listening to any one of it's four sides for over a year since buying the reissue during a Luxuria findraiser.

GF Time. The one & only.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Uncle Michael: I'm going through a career-encompassing Bee Gees phase, and I've concluded that Barry Gibb should be included in any discussion of the best popular music songwriters of the 20th century.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

This is the second time Odessa has come up in conversation today for me. Earlier, a friend mentioned she named her cat "Odessa," and I wondered if the cat was red with really short fur.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Also, hello and hugs to Gaylord and Uncle Michael.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm
Uncle Michael:

I'd never argue otherwise. As for Odessa, it's a masterpiece and the equal of any iconic album from the period.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm
Uncle Michael:

Wendy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm
Little Danny:

@Wendy: amazing image!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm

Wendy hugs to Wendy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41pm
Gaylord Fields:

And you win the day with that comment!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41pm
Little Danny:

@Gaylord: how late do you go with their catalog? Like, "Still Waters" late?
  8:43pm
John from Florham park:

@Gaylord before disco bee gees were pretty good , when they played disco they sucked big time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
Little Danny:

Really dug that "Haar" track. More than I expected, actually
  8:44pm
Will:

Wow we are digging deep tonight and glad of it, hi Gaylord!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Little Danny: Spirits Having Flown, I must admit, but I did enjoy the valedictory This Is Where I Came In.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

@Little Danny: Thanks! I also got to recommend the album to the folks I was talking to because they didn't know it. So sad! But maybe happy because now they can go learn it and love it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
Gaylord Fields:

@John from Florham park: We'll have to disagree, and just as vehemently from either side, I suspect. Courses for horses, and all that.
Avatar 8:45pm
redkayak:

@Gaylord on fire tonight :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm
Uncle Michael:

I dig the title track to This Is Where I Came In big time.
  8:46pm
John from Florham park:

@Gaylord no problem just disco was not my cup of tea, but if you like it no problem
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Will: Hi, and thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm
Gaylord Fields:

@John from Floham park: I totally understand. If something doesn't float your boat, that's all there is to it.
  8:48pm
John from florham park:

But some fine tunes tonite
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48pm
mariano:

Disco's not my go-to style, but I do love "Stayin' Alive" and "Emotion."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49pm
Uncle Michael:

I love "disco" era Bee Gees and all the hits they wrote and produced for Kenny, Barbra, Dolly, etc.
  8:50pm
John from florham park:

Mariano I am so sick of those songs heard them too damn much
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

"Nights on Broadway" is a fabulous song, whether performed by The Bee Gees or Candi Station. The call-and-response alone is worth the price of admission.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm
Gaylord Fields:

@John from Florham park: Yeah, I played the disco last week. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Whoops, I meant Candi STATON, not Candi Station. Sorry! That's a funny typo.
  8:50pm
John from florham park:

Gaylord noooooooooooooo:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

60s BGs crazy good. Some of that Freakbeat every bit as eccentric as pre-huge Bowie... & Pop writing yeah - man they got on the radio with that - my earliest years. Goes deep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm
Uncle Michael:

Candi is my secret girlfriend.
  8:52pm
John from Florham park:

@wendy caught candy on TBN a few times back in the 80s
  8:52pm
Dean:

"Fanny." That's the song that reminds me to appreciate the Bee Gees.

My secret girlfriend? Franz Schubert.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Revolution Rabbit Nov63: It's as if some sort of music-composing AI was fed a bunch of Beatles songs and decided to write its own.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm
Uncle Michael:

Fanny is so great, Dean.
  8:55pm
Dean:

I embrace the ambiguity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55pm
maestroso:

Great show Gaylord. Must turn in, though. 04:45 wake up call. I hate Mondays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm
mariano:

Perfect! It's a rainy Sunday here in New Orleans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm
Uncle Michael:

Geez...I love this JR track. Why isn't there a Johnny Rivers documentary?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Disco was a Social Phenomenon on one hand - & on the other just one style of Pop~Funk forms...
The social experience of it was I think almost opposite for Urban & Rural (like here) people... In the City it was racially integrated, gay & druggy
...& out here corporate saturation & the jocks & yet dad wanting to be Travolta...no Live music anymore & that one high-hat beat seemed like seven years!!...
Ah Scorpio brother Johnny R...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm
Gaylord Fields:

@maestroso: G'night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Oh my gosh, Gaylord. You always delight me with your segues. Morricone into Johnny Rivers is perfect. Yay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm
Gaylord Fields:

Oh, Wendy! Thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I mean - this was RADIO CHART POP...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00pm
Little Danny:

@UM: Rivers really does seem to have fallen through *all* the cracks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01pm
Uncle Michael:

He's wedged snugly in mine.
  9:02pm
Dean:

Please cut out the discussion of "fanny" and "cracks" and "snugly wedged." At least proffer a trigger warning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm
mariano:

Haar = "hair" in German, "her" in Dutch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm
listener 126464:

Love the selections again Gaylord thank you! Hi everybody
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

@Dean: Does mentioning Joe Besser require a trigger warning?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05pm
listener 126464:

not Fanny the band though
  9:05pm
Dean:

The last time I thought about Besser I was snugly wedged in a fanny crack from which I escaped just a few days ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm
Gaylord Fields:

Oh, dear, has this discussion devolved.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm
listener 126464:

too funny
  9:07pm
Dean:

Entropy. Deal with it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm
mariano:

Original Joe Besser or Joe "Mama" Besser from Spinal Tap?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Dean: I can deal with it kindly or harshly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm
katie:

Paloma! I love this one. Video is fun too.
  9:12pm
Carmichael:

Heya Gaylord and Odessa lovers.
  9:12pm
Dean:

Harshly works. One must be harsh to be kind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm
Gaylord Fields:

@katie: Katie!
  9:13pm
Carmichael:

@dean, wasn’t that a Nick Lowe song? Sorta?
  9:15pm
John from Florham park:

@carmichael cruel to be kind in the right measure
  9:15pm
Dean:

It was a Lowe song, sorta.
  9:17pm
Carmichael:

Why is every boyfriend in song named Johnny?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Carmichael: Guaranteed sales to people with that very common name?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm

@Little Danny: When they left Los Brincos it was a great example of addition by subtraction! It left two great group, as Los Brincos were still vital after losing J&J.
  9:33pm
Carmichael:

Here we go. Is this Alllan Clarke or Graham Nash? Or both?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm
Uncle Michael:

Flaco y Gordo!
  9:34pm
Joe R.:

@Ken exactly what I was thinking about - from Motown to Philly Soul to Zeppelin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Carmichael: Allan on lead, Graham on VERY high bg vox! (Paul McCartney mistook it for a trumpet when he first heard it.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm
coelacanth∅:

McCartney the trumpet player thought that?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Graham freaking Nash like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm
Gaylord Fields:

@coelacanth∅: Have you heard Paul on trumpet (as on Only a Northern Song)?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm
mariano:

Oh, it's "bells." BlueBELLS. Had to do a double-take.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm
coelacanth∅:

yeah what a voice
  9:39pm

There’s an Alan Parsons song called Breakdown, where Allan sings lead. Always a favorite.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm
coelacanth∅:

Gaylord - i guess i have! i didn't know it was him on that and i always wondered why he didn't occasionally play horn on a beatles song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm

smart move on their part.
