Hi Jason, always glad to hear you've made it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am Jan Turkenburg:

and Hi Rich!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am Rich in Washington:

Hi Jan!
Avatar 11:07am Jason Elbogen:

FYI - Opening with a song like this makes me feel like a 'real' DJ!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Jan Turkenburg:

LOL!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am fred:

Hello Jason and all. I'm late: a bookshop just opened in my sleepy little town, I had to check it out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Fred!
Avatar 11:15am Jason Elbogen:

Fred--I sort of feel like books are increasingly special artifacts. On the F train down here today I saw a woman reading a physical book that I think is very good (Margaret Atwood's Blind Assassin), and I almost felt like congratulating her for actually not having a phone in her hand (and reading fiction).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am fred:

I don't think I'll be a customer there though: almost all books are in French (obviously) though they can do special orders. They had maybe 30 books in English: mostly classics, Harry Potter (is that a classic now?), but also Infinite Jest. Good luck selling that one.
Ordering from my usual bookshop can get complicated at times though, so it could be an option if/when Saul Kripke releases the next comp
Avatar 11:28am Linda Lee:

wow ~ fabulous 'passenger'!! good morning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Linda! Yes, I'm totally borrowing this rendition for my weekly item on local radio.
Avatar 11:32am Linda Lee:

hi Jan!
yes, the Passenger is on Lust for Life.
not a bad article on Iggy, it's true. Amanda is their journalist on the Iggy beat. she did the last one, too. she's good!
Avatar 11:34am Linda Lee:

.. for someone who's likely too young to have revered him the way we late boomers did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am fred:

@LL: Maybe that's why she avoided referring to him as "Mr Pop". Though "Pop" still does sound weird
Avatar 11:38am Linda Lee:

yes it does. :-D
interesting to find out there was a Jimmy Popp, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am fred:

Wichita Lineman!
  11:40am Martinibomb:

Hello Jason and fellow listeners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Jan Turkenburg:

Hi MB!
Avatar 11:43am Linda Lee:

'shepherd of my love' is marvelous.. this woman has soul!
Avatar 11:45am Linda Lee:

'anybody here' is also brilliant. let the sunshine in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am Jan Turkenburg:

Raised up as a catholic creature, It took me years to undo the "miracles" of Jesus...
  11:51am Martinibomb:

Lol! Jason
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am Jan Turkenburg:

LOL
  11:54am Martinibomb:

Its probably someone else with the same number
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Jan Turkenburg:

I once ended up with a great guest in my show phoning a youth choir, that had brought out a progrock mass on LP. The young composer turned out to have become a collegue music teacher with a lot of stories to tell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Jan Turkenburg:

It was an LP from the mid 80s, but the choir still existed and lead me to the ex-member of my age that had written the piece.

Avatar 12:02pm Jason Elbogen:

Avatar 12:03pm Linda Lee:

that's why there's a voice over! he was the story teller.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm fred:

@Jason: no, I haven't. Looks good
And that Van Hi Ban track is really nice too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm fred:

The whole Longing For The Past set is wonderful. I think it's sold out now, I hope they'll reissue it someday
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm fred:

Next week I'll be back at work, and probably unable to listen. I hope I'm wrong, but ageing hardware and a - let's say - peculiar boss make listening tough
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm melinda:

hi Jason & all
Avatar 12:26pm Linda Lee:

hi melinda!
aren't these records wonderful.
Avatar 12:26pm Jason Elbogen:

Hey Fred, it's been nice catching up/having you check in... Try to survive work.
Avatar 12:26pm Linda Lee:

really nice musically!
  12:35pm Martinibomb:

Some real gems today
Avatar 12:36pm Linda Lee:

gosh, seeing the word 'work' reminds me: i'd love a job to go to, peculiar boss or no.
Avatar 12:38pm Jason Elbogen:

Melinda--you used to listen my show a long time ago, right?
  12:38pm fisobaba:

Just Chill.
Avatar 12:41pm Linda Lee:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm fred:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm melinda:

@Jason yes. Nice to hear you again!
Avatar 1:04pm Mr Fab:

hey all, out and about today, but listening. So...there really is a Cambodian Tribute to Iggy Pop?!
Avatar 1:08pm Mr Fab:

Ha ha! This song about wanting "the sexiest broad", coming right after children singing "God Bless America"...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm fred:

@Mr Fab: Welcome to the Trump age?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Mr Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm fred:

I kinda randomize my records. I have a section for projects I'm seen live, one for WFMU DJ premium (organized by air time for current show) and one for the rest. Beyond that it changes often, and not finding what I'm looking for but something I'd forgot about is a big plus
Avatar 1:17pm Mr Fab:

Oof! Hadn't thought about it like that fred, but now that you mention it... Was thinking more like last Wednesday, when the World's Worst Records all-children show was followed by Georgie Girl's show playing excerpts from "The Joy of Sex." Typical Sheena's "problematic programming," as i like to call it.
Avatar 1:17pm Mr Fab:

My records are loosly arranged by genre. i can't remember all the artist names.
Avatar 1:26pm Linda Lee:

'problematic programming' is why we love Sheena, Mr. F!
it's wonderful.
Avatar 1:27pm Linda Lee:

don't ever change, Sheena! XX
Avatar 1:30pm Mr Fab:

Thanks Linda! Really appreciate it. I promise to only change it in attempts to make it wonderful-er and problematical-er.
Avatar 1:30pm Thibault:

Sorry Jason, I missed the show today, such a pleasant weather in Paris, I couldn't come back home... I hope you're fine.
Avatar 1:31pm Linda Lee:

bravissimo! :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm fred:

I like this!
  1:41pm Martinibomb:

whoa kewl
  1:44pm Martinibomb:

whaaaaa happened? holy moly radio first maybe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm fred:

The Glitchmaster claims his title!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Rich in Washington:

HA!
There's this legendary, perhaps apocryphal story of a Saturday Jazz programmer on KBOO who had become entangled in both his headphone cable AND the leash of his small dog, with no one else in the station, and he actually called out for help on the air.
A few old time DJs swear it happened. Sadly long before even in-station FCC logging, so lost to time.
Maybe playing on Alpha Century in a few years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm fred:

The MMA champion of radio!
Avatar 1:57pm Mr Fab:

The coolness continues:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Jan Turkenburg:

Another great show, Jason. Thanks! btw I know this song as "Vrienden zingt in vreugde want de Heer is hier" in my youth...
  1:58pm Martinibomb:

ohmy gawd WIRES yup!
  1:58pm Martinibomb:

I swear I have buckets of wires I've given up trying to untangle Lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm fred:

Thanks Jason, this was a great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Rich in Washington:

I wish I took before and after pics of the nightmarish tangle of audio cables I used to have in this gigantic gym bag that I would STUFF under my bed. I spent the better part of a day untangling, isolating, giving a proper wrap and velcro tying them all up and now they're somewhat organized in one of those huge underbed bins.
