Yes, here we are after all of these years.

Luxuria's equipment was still brand new. I was married and my wife worked late on Mondays, so I started this show.

Today is every bit as good as 13 years ago my friend!

Javi from Argentina:

Hi Andrew, hope you are doing well. Apologies if this is a dumb question.
There is a version of "It Hurts To Be In Love" by Neil Sedaka on youtube which sounds finished with harmony vocal and all instrumentation.
In the Bear Family set there is only a basic track version with a single tracked vocal.
Do you know if the finished version was ever released officially and where? BF must have forgotten to include it in their box.

Wow The Motions. Just a few months ago I bought an 8 CD set with all their stuff. Some.of it is less than stellar and some sound like lost Kinks/Who tracks.
Avatar 6:03pm

Javi - well today's hour of Motions is the very best of the best.

This song from 1969 would have been great in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

I hate it when it happens.
You play a great song, I go try to find a CD with it to buy and boom, vinyl only according to discogs. Bummer.

Gee it sure would be great to have an Abnak various artists CD/download with things like this and the US Males etc.

A lot of vinyl only in the first hour of this show.

I guess this show would mark approximately 12 years of friendship for us, Andrew - I remember you coming over to the Lux-Bonerz compound when I was in L.A., and bringing a copy of an early CTTS (the Graham Goldman special) that really put the hook in me! I've been an avid listener ever since, as you know!
Avatar 6:28pm

Thanks, Dennis - I'll drink to that!

Avatar 6:39pm

The groove is pretty quintessential Brian Wilson.
Avatar 6:54pm

I think this is one of the best runs of 45s ever played on this show.

@Javi upthread - the version of "It Hurts To Be In Love" you want is on the compilation The Definitive Collection. It's not on the Bear box because it's not an RCA recording.

Will listen tomorrow at work but just wanted to come in to the chatshine to say congratulations, Andrew!

Dig the Gettng Better meets Charlie & Fred-isms of "Nellie The Horse" - for some reason, only on the 8CD box in a mock-live version.
Avatar 7:24pm
cometothesunshine:

Yeah, the "live" pye album is an odd one.

LOVE Paper Trees. Am interested in hearing what the other five Jupiter songs are like.
Avatar 7:36pm
cometothesunshine:

Me too - you never know what gems are hidden out there.
  7:39pm
Kyler:

Really hits home how essential Rudy Bennett's voice was to the sound of the band - that single could have been packaged as The Motions and no one would know the wiser.
Avatar 7:41pm
cometothesunshine:

yeah, it is amazing how few people talk about Impressions when it is among the most solid albums of the 1960s.
  7:42pm
Mark from TX:

Haven’t heard most of these. That’s why I tune in.
Avatar 7:43pm
cometothesunshine:

yeah, lots to discover for all of us.
  7:44pm
Kyler:

It's still not readily available, which probably explains it.
  7:45pm
Kyler:

Whoever applied the noise reduction to Sensation on the CD set should be given a stern talking to! Interesting album.
Avatar 7:46pm
cometothesunshine:

It is transferred off azimuth - that is why the top end comes and goes.
  7:46pm
Mark from TX:

The bass lines are great on these tracks

That flew by, thanks
