I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

hi Mayuko and fred & chresti and all
  12:02pm Rickwaukee:

Holy heck, this is THAT old??!! Wowie-wee-wah
Avatar 12:03pm Mayuko:

@Rickwaukee The Freak Show?
  12:03pm Katsuko:

Good afternoon legend.
  12:04pm Rickwaukee:

No - Circus Homunculus
Avatar 12:04pm Mayuko:

Katsuko! You are finally on MY board!
  12:05pm Katsuko:

i was born on your board Mayuko, several months ago. Its ok that u forgot
  12:05pm Rickwaukee:

Avatar 12:05pm Mayuko:

@Rickwaukee I don't have much info about it, stumbled upon it on Free Music Archives. Hard to trust human race. They say it's that old - doesn't necessarily mean it's that old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar 12:06pm fred:

That link on the playlist doesn't work for me. There's a message saying the FMA has been acquired and more news should come on Monday
Avatar 12:08pm Mayuko:

I do remember seeing Katsuko on my playlist before but was not aware that you were BORN here. That's kinda dramatic thing to happen on my show.
  12:09pm Rickwaukee:

Wait! I have NOT been had. It was taken from Wax Cylinder! Sounded so Not that old to me. A futuristic sensibility.
Avatar 12:11pm fred:

I think David Dichelle would like this picture
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Mark Hurst:

Hi Mayuko! Glad to be hearing some Vertigo today.

Avatar 12:11pm Mayuko:

@fred seems like FMA has been having horrible glitches so probably that's what it is. I was so frustrated as I was searching stuff there this past week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm listener james from westwood:

Been in since the start but have been cleaning up after vacation—hey Mayuko and all!

I wish I'd been a zillionaire and could've written a big enough check to keep the FMA with FMU. And I miss Cheyenne.
  12:13pm rw:

Good morning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Mark Hurst:

@James same, and same
Avatar 12:14pm Mayuko:

Hi Mark! Feels very appropriate to have you show up during Computer World, haha! Thanks for tuning in!
  12:14pm JosephB:

Hello everyone!
Avatar 12:16pm Mayuko:

Hi james!!

Without Cheyenne things are not going right at FMA >:(
Avatar 12:16pm Mayuko:

Good morning rw, and Joe B!!!
  12:17pm melinda:

Hi Mayuko and everyone
Avatar 12:17pm Mayuko:

@Rickwaukee Thanks for restoring my faith in human race!
Avatar 12:18pm Mayuko:

Hi melinda! Thanks for tuning in!
  12:18pm melinda:

I miss Cheyenne too.
  12:22pm Rickwaukee:

Now THIS sounds exactly like 1960
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm melinda:

Joe Meek did some freaky stuff, I like it.
  12:23pm rw:

Anyone know how to copy a layer mask in Photoshop and apply it to a layer in another file? I'm about to scream.
  12:24pm rw:

And I just realized that passenger car is a bridge!!!
Avatar 12:26pm Mayuko:

@rw Yeah! It's like a trip ends, but you can begin the next trip from there.
  12:27pm JosephB:

@rw I think I've done that. Maybe just drag the whole thing?
Avatar 12:31pm Franco Twinkie:

Mayuko! I saw Chris & Cosey at this club called the I-Beam in San Francisco about the time of this recording. They had movies of brain surgery behind them as they played.
Avatar 12:31pm Jason Elbogen:

Hi, everyone... Listening in while I try to complete mind-numbing paperwork,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm chresti:

gosh, rw, it's been ages since I've used photoshop, but dragging sounds like an option
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Mark Hurst:

robot dance party. love it
  12:36pm rw:

Hey Joe and chresti! Yeah, but I want to apply to a different file. That might work. I'll give it a try but I think it moves the mask rather than copying and pasting and it's cumbersome moving from file to file if it works at all. I've got several images to do so it would be good to make it smooth. I'll keep working on it. I know a workaround or two, just that I know I've done it before. Plus I'm stressed out and it's not making things any better!! Thanks both!
Avatar 12:38pm Martinibomb:

Hi Mayuko and fellow listeners! Happy to be here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm coelacanth∅:

(i use gimp, not photoshop, but i'm not very good at it anyway)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm chresti:

I recall that you could combine layers or fuse them together?@rw
  12:39pm JosephB:

OK rw, I got this. Command click on the mask. That loads the mask as a selection. Then go to the other you want to apply it to and choose "load selection" from the select menu.
  12:40pm JosephB:

*the other file
Avatar 12:40pm Martinibomb:

Sounds like you want to drop an image from one file into another? You can copy/paste or you can drag and drop. If you had lots of files there's probably a script to do it in PS.
Avatar 12:41pm Martinibomb:

or maybe you're trying to apply the same mask to multiple files?
Avatar 12:41pm Franco Twinkie:

Neither do I!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm chresti:

getting older helps
Avatar 12:45pm Franco Twinkie:

Yes but, nuts can just wear you out after awhile. Can't get away from them though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm chresti:

  12:45pm Rickwaukee:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm melinda:

@chresti I've found that to be true.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm chresti:

Avatar 12:53pm Mayuko:

Hii Martinibomb! Happy to have you here!!
Avatar 12:54pm Mayuko:

@Franco haha! yeah, I'm sure if I stayed there forever I would have been worn out!
Avatar 12:55pm northguineahills:

missed Wiley as it took more then 5 mins for my pop-up to pop-up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm paul b:

I haven't seen the Big Lebowski in years and years, Was always intrigued by reading somewhere that the Dude never says anything that hasn't been said by another character first. That and that Aimee Mann from Til Tuesday has a small part credited as "nihilist woman"
Avatar 12:56pm Mayuko:

@chresti haha! I was one of those kids back then! and there were really many freak flags flying there like it's United Nations headquarter or something.
Avatar 12:56pm fred:

Between researchers and composers, there's a steady supply of weirdos where I work. A few corporate drones arrived recently, THEY look weird to me
Avatar 12:59pm Mayuko:

Oh no you missed that masterpiece, ngh!! But welcome!!!
  12:59pm rw:

Whew. I know we've all moved on but just wanted to let everyone know I figured out the Photoshop thing. Way too complicated. Feeling better now. I know it's been eating at you all. Thanks for the tips!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm chresti:

Haha Mayuko!
  1:01pm rw:

Mayuko!! Thanks for the show. Kid/weirdo jobs are important!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Ken From Hyde Park:

If that coach wasn't the B train in a prior life, it is now! (B for Bridge)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm chresti:

rw, glad to hear it all worked out!
Avatar 1:03pm Franco Twinkie:

Mayuko, take my mother - PLEASE! Only kidding, she can grind me into paste with her loony behavior, but at least she doesn't live with us. Today I have to shop for food and then go over. It might be all right or horrible. I never know.
Avatar 1:04pm Mayuko:

@paul b haha! she was just there to have her pinky cut off though she looked really cool.
Avatar 1:04pm Mayuko:

@fred You might have been there too long?
Avatar 1:05pm Mayuko:

@rw glad to be of help though I didn't provide any! see what this radio program can do for listeners?!?!
  1:07pm rw:

Yes. I really need to listen live more often. Listenerds rule!
Avatar 1:08pm fred:

Yeah, I've been there too long. But the location is unbeatable: 30 minutes max to go to a show anywhere in the city or nearby. That matters a lot to me
Avatar 1:09pm Franco Twinkie:

I love that train car bridge! North of Santa Barbara around the Gaviota Tunnel is a old streetcar parked out in the weeds. It's been there as long as I can remember.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm chresti:

eeww, corporate drones @fred
Avatar 1:10pm Mayuko:

@Franco Hope it goes all right! I have to say sometimes it helps to be pacific-ocean-away from your family!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm chresti:

Love goat!
  1:11pm rw:

Weirdos rule too. Franco, have you been to the Bridge to Nowhere? It seems to be a reoccurring theme in my life the past month or so.
Avatar 1:11pm Mayuko:

Hallos, Ken!!
  1:11pm rw:

Haha! chresti!
Avatar 1:12pm Mayuko:

@rw What is that Bridge to Nowhere thing?! Sounds super fascinating!
Avatar 1:14pm Franco Twinkie:

RW - coordinates please.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm chresti:

Avatar 1:15pm Sem:

Hello, Mayuko, and vertigo-goers.
Avatar 1:16pm Mayuko:

Welcome, my radio family Sem!!!
  1:16pm rw:

Mayuko, we just went through this on Nowhere Places board. It's a bridge built in the '30s. The road washed out before it opened so there's a brand new bridge 80 some years old that's never been used. Some guy found a loophole and got the mining rights years ago and runs a bungee jumping operation off the thing which totally fucks with the magic but if you go out there when they're not aroud it's pretty cool.
  1:19pm rw:

Franco, that's weird you don't know about it. Not far from you. https://www.kcet.org/shows/huell-howser/classic-huell-the-bridge-to-nowhere
Avatar 1:19pm fred:

That goat track was great
  1:21pm rw:

Hwy 39 into the mountains, right at East Fork to the end, then start hiking. That's off the top of my head so don't get lost!
  1:21pm Rickwaukee:

LOL "ruined my life"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm melinda:

I am in the later stages of clearing out my house for mold remediation and having anxiety over the piles of tools & equipment I don't know what to do with since I am not a tool/equipment person. Does Goodwill take power saws?
  1:23pm rw:

Drummer stream is taking over the world.
  1:24pm Rickwaukee:

Good lord, Daniel sounds 12
Avatar 1:26pm Franco Twinkie:

Oh yeah, I do know that bridge, I just didn't know what it was called. It's in back of the old navy submarine tank.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm melinda:

Cool bridge.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm coelacanth∅:

now i want to know about the navy submarine tank
  1:28pm rw:

cc me too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm coelacanth∅:

  1:31pm Rickwaukee:

Did the math. Daniel was around 28 when he did that track
  1:31pm Rickwaukee:

scratch that, 26
  1:32pm P-90:

Happy Saturday, DJ Mayuko and Vertighosts
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm chresti:

He might of recorded it earlier, though
Avatar 1:36pm Mayuko:

@Rickwaukee Ha! He did sound like 12 though what he was singing in that song applies to older people too!
Avatar 1:36pm fred:

A woman I know had been exchanging letters with Daniel Johnston for years. She finally managed to set up an exhibition of the drawings he sent her over these years last year. It must be a hard time for her
Avatar 1:36pm Mayuko:

Thanks for tuning in P-90!
Avatar 1:37pm Mayuko:

@fred That's sad that he didn't get to see that show happening.
  1:38pm rw:

D. Johnson seems to have been an important force in many people's lives. It's been nice to hear some of his music on the air this past week. I hadn't been super familiar.
  1:40pm rw:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm coelacanth∅:

i watched this video last night
thought it interesting
(not sure this non-google link for a youboob video will work...)
Avatar 1:41pm fred:

@Mayuko: He didn't come over, but he knew about it and approved it
Avatar 1:42pm Franco Twinkie:

Coel, it's abandoned now, but back in the day The navy had this dam where they would test under water explosives and stuff like that. Also, there was this place up in Azuza Canyon called El Encanto. It was a road house/restaurant that had good steaks. The last time I was there was my 26th birthday. It burned to the ground sometime later.
Avatar 1:43pm Mayuko:

@rw, yeah, I only learned about him when the doc film The Devil and Daniel Johnston came to Japan in mid-2000's, so I had to sort of catch up as well. Though later I came to really like his music.
Avatar 1:44pm Sem:

Thank you so much for this TVZ, Mayuko.
  1:44pm JakeGould:

Hey Mayuko! Mentioning “dead flowers” reminds me of Robert Frank. Lots of deaths of talented people this past week.
  1:45pm rw:

I've said it before but Play Vertigo is too short.

cc, link seems to work for me. I'll watch later.

FT, I remember the El Encanto.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm coelacanth∅:

so, when you say tank you mean an armoured vehicle with weapons or a hollow vessel for holding a substance, such as propane?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I forget. What did we decide on the Circle Time show last night? Which Rolling Stones album is the best?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Michael 98145:

Yay, Mayuko
Avatar 1:46pm Mayuko:

Coming up next is Music For a Free World with Dave Sewelson!!!
  1:47pm Rickwaukee:

Have I really not seen 'The Big Lebowski' in so long I don't recall what scene this played in? Used to watch it annually at minimum
Avatar 1:47pm Franco Twinkie:

No, I meant a big cement ditch full of water.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm coelacanth∅:

rw yeah he was apparently always pretty out there, from what i've read, but the effects of drugs and probably barbaric psych ward treatment pushed him further.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm coelacanth∅:

Franco i think we decided that everyone has their own opinion!
Avatar 1:49pm Franco Twinkie:

I want a steak now.
  1:51pm Rickwaukee:

I bet Mayuko has googly eyes on her everywhere and whenever she goes anywhere. HA
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm chresti:

Yeah, the first time I went to an experimental performance, I was not expecting the hushed atmosphere
  1:52pm rw:

I'll be sure to wear plenty of googly eyes to the Santa Monica performance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm coelacanth∅:

so like a cistern.
maybe i'll live long enough to get back out west and explore places like that.
(not that i've come close to exhausting the exploration of cool abandoned things around here)
  1:53pm Katsuko:

thanks for the well constructed show; enjoyable.
  1:53pm JosephB:

@rw ha ha. which performance is that?
  1:53pm JakeGould:

At the Met Museum the “suggested” admission is like $20? I always suggest $1.
  1:55pm rw:

Joe, I'm not sure... Serious piano show.... I'll have to look it up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, Mayuko. Off we vertigo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm chresti:

Thanks Mayuko!
Haha-serious piano show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm melinda:

Robert Frank died?!
  1:56pm rw:

  1:56pm Rickwaukee:

We need to come up with a less negatively tinged term than ramblings - they are FINE. Thanks for the weird show, Mayuko
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm melinda:

Fab show, thanks Mayuko!
  1:57pm JosephB:

Thanks for the tunes, Mayuko! I remember picking up a Digital Dance compilation with this on it at Tower Records in Tokyo around 2006. Used to listen to it all the time back then. Nice to hear it again!
Avatar 1:57pm Mayuko:

THIS piano show will be beautiful from what I can hear in the album!!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm coelacanth∅:

so no people in bunny costumes playing piano at that show i guess
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm chresti:

  1:58pm rw:

Thank you Mayuko! Fucking legendary. Have a great weekend everyone. Ramble on!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@melinda - Yes, unfortunately. Trouble mentioned it on her show.
