Yes, "Cruel to be Kind" is one of those records that sounds terrific every time....

BTW -- does anyone know what that muffled "squeaking" sound is that occurs throughout? Acoustic guitar strings?

As a big NL fan, I'd like to put in a vote for "Basing Street," a b-side (and a bonus cut on his 2nd album) that now sounds like a preview of his later style: quiet, acoustic, and a sad little slice of life about an unnamed tragedy. Thanks for this interview!

It was me.. It was $3.99 at Korvettes for a two-record set. A bargain. And I hated it even as I bought it. I'm not sure why I did. And I remember thinking at the time that I kind of wanted to feel what it was like to be one of 9 million people. But I was already going the other way. I don't think I ever bought another record like that ever again.

I just gave away one of my many aquired copies of "Frampton Comes Alive" which I think is the source of the voicebox single you are referring to. They were pretty ubiquitous so I've managed to acquire at least 5 copies for $0 dollars. They don't suck.
