"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Tom in St. Paul:

@prudy The Burns doc goes down easy like aged whiskey. I don't know enough to be critical, but it makes the point that country music is just American music, influenced by and influencing every other genre.

@steveo 6 string banjo i guess

Who would have thunk to name an album on this? "In fluid dynamics, laminar flow is characterized by fluid particles following smooth paths in layers, with each layer moving smoothly past the adjacent layers with little or no mixing.[1]"

thought the hank williams episode was great, but the one following that was even better. Elvis the hillbilly cat. did not focus on rock n roll phenomenon as it shouldn't have. but rockabilly strain, everlys, patsy cline, willie nelson as a writer. and Johnny Cash. pretty great

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am

Booz - I wasn't aware the depth of his influence until now. I knew of him from going to the Vision Fest back in the 90s early 2000s and he was always there. He was at any improv/free jazz type show - I kinda stopped going, but whenever i caught a show, he was there...saw he recite poetry solo and with musicians too. Always the center of the room vibe..

Two years ago, one day in Wash Sq Park I was with my 17 year old smart niece and Steve and Yolo walk by and stop to chat of course. After their departure I exclaimed, you met a real live poet! . And he's a good one! And Yoko! a good artist too...here in the park in The Village. You are lucky. One day you'll hear Steve read.
