... BUT .... I REALLY need to get way more pledges coming in today than I did last week. Do it for FMU ... and the Swedes....
Avatar 11:52am
Tony Coulter:

Heya, James! You're irreplaceable too!

By the way, today's show will feature many more unreissued LPs than last week's show did.

Like the first two things we're hearing today....

Avatar 12:17pm

Not enough for what you do, sir. Your welcome.
Avatar 12:17pm
Tony Coulter:

By the way, all, the pledge-goal-percent marker seems to be a bit wacked out. BUT ... your pledges are coming through loud and clear
Avatar 12:22pm
Tony Coulter:

BIG, BIG thanks to FMU's own TomDash for his generous pledge!! YAY, Tom!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm

My pleasure, its the least I could do for the music education you provide. I steal my ideas and influences only from the best!
Avatar 12:30pm
Tony Coulter:

Ha! Thanks, Tom.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm
TomDash:

This Anna Själv Tredje is fantastic...looks like someone from the band went onto form Cosmic Overdose - I just picked up the first few Cosmic Overdose LPs and 45 - a few yrs past your 60s/70s cut-off but great stuff!
Avatar 12:49pm
Tony Coulter:

HUGE THANKS to Dave R from the U.K. for his generous pledge, which just came in!!! HOORAY!!!
Avatar 12:50pm
Tony Coulter:

@ TomDash: Yes, forgot to mention the Cosmic Overdose connection!

By the way, this LP has a gorgeous cover: www.discogs.com...

Dave in St Albans UK:

Wow. This hits the spot nicely. Thanks Tony.
Avatar 12:51pm
Tony Coulter:

Thank you!! (for the pledge, that is)
Avatar 12:53pm
Tony Coulter:

Yeah, some label should really reissue this Anna Själv Tredje. It goes for a nice (or is it, not nice?) chunk of change these days.
  12:54pm
Dave in St Albans UK:

You are most welcome Tony. I intend upping my Swag for Life donation by the end of October. I am always grateful for WFMU and its streams. GTDR is up there with the best!
Avatar 1:01pm
Tony Coulter:

Mega thanks in advance for any and all uppages!
Avatar 1:09pm
Tony Coulter:

The drummer on this TGS track is Thomas Mera Gartz, who we heard from at the beginning of the show.
Avatar 1:11pm
Tony Coulter:

... and ... the cover of the Stenblomma album (on now) can be seen above the playlist.
Avatar 1:15pm
Tony Coulter:

Meanwhile, where have all the flowers ... I mean, pledges ... gone? Please pitch in if you can, for station and stream!
Avatar 1:33pm
Tony Coulter:

All's too quiet on the Swedish front. Signal so I know you're there. (Of course, a pledge would be extra dandy -- but a comment would do just fine.)
Avatar 1:36pm
Tony Coulter:

Silence is such a fine label -- almost anything on it is worth checking out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Cmurtha:

I love how ambient this stuff is, and also how almost all of it has aged so well. I'd not think most of this was from the 70s if not for the dates being in front of me.
Avatar 1:42pm
Tony Coulter:

Know what you mean!
Avatar 1:43pm
Tony Coulter:

A lot of it is very "hippie-ish," but not at all in a clichéd way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm
Webhamster Henry:

Hi Tony! Lots of 40+ year old stuff today.
Avatar 1:48pm
Tony Coulter:

Heya, Hamster! Yep, it's the golden oldies today.
Avatar 1:51pm
Tony Coulter:

For some reason, a lot of psych collectors really hate this Malaria LP on now. I like it!
Avatar 1:52pm
Tony Coulter:

Just on, I mean.....
  1:53pm
Dave in St Albans UK:

Golden oldies? Sounds fresh enough to my old ears! Better late than never to catch up on so many rare goodies as I am sure my local record store would never have stocked these in the 70's :-)
  1:57pm
Dave in St Albans UK:

I was into Zappa, Beefheart, GTO's, Wildman Fischer at the time thanks to a bunch of hippies on Radio Geronimo transmitting from Monte Carlo. But I would have welcomed this excellent selection into my ears too.
Avatar 1:58pm
Tony Coulter:

Yeah, I'm just yolking about the "golden oldies"! A lot of this stuff is probably fairly unknown even in Sweden....
  2:02pm
Dave in St Albans UK:

Radio Sweden used had a lot of local Swedish bands on their international English programme to the UK in the late 60's onwards. Wish I still had the tape recordings.
  2:04pm
Nate K.:

Pretty mind-blowing stuff here, Tony.
Avatar 2:04pm

He does sound a lot like Jimi. That's amazing.
Avatar 2:21pm
Tony Coulter:

PLEDGE DROUGHT! PLEDGE DROUGHT! There are only 40 minutes left to pledge in honor of Swedish hippies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm
TomDash:

love how this set got nice and groovy, man. Fuzz guitar and swinging grooves. This Sounds like Jefferson Airplane
Avatar 2:24pm
Listening Out There:

IMO, Pugh Rogefeldt sounds like Thunderclap Newman...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm

...or at least very West Coast...

The West Coast Thunderclap Newman, maybe.....
