Ready to rock. And roll.
Avatar 9:09pm DonJuanTijuana:

Welcome Ira!!! So cool to have you spin some vinyl for us!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm Yes:

hi ya all
Swag For Life Member 9:24pm Ira:

Happy to be here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm Yes:

love this one
Avatar 9:30pm RobinSays:

"Come Up And See Me.." is a fave song of mine. Duran Duran also do a great live version of this. Great to hear you on WFMU Ira! I must say Yo La Tengo's "Big Day Coming" is also a fave tune of mine:)
Swag For Life Member 9:32pm Ira:

I played Make Me Smile at a Mergefest a bunch of years ago, as part of the had-to-be-seen-to-believe Double Dynamite.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm melinda:

hello Ira and everyone!
Avatar 9:34pm RobinSays:

Oh, that sounds really cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm Rob (Jerzcity):

I joined one song too late. Wizzard would have been a nice nightcap after listening to Mr. Belock spinnin' the Move so much this afternoon
Avatar 9:38pm RobinSays:

Didn't Ross Bagdasarian create The Chipmunks?
  9:40pm Joeybug69:

Good ol’ Dave Seville!
  9:40pm Marie:

Very fun show, Ira. Until you played that last one (just kidding). Great show. Thanks.
Avatar 9:42pm RobinSays:

Oh that's right Joey. I had a lot of Chipmunks' records when I was a wee girl. Dad would cur up a stack of them on my record player at bedtime and they'd play as I fell asleep.
Avatar 9:42pm RobinSays:

D'uh I meant to say cue not cur!
  9:45pm Joeybug69:

Makes a little more sense in that context!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm melinda:

digarooni, haha
  9:50pm Joeybug69:

Saw the Q here in a Philthydelphia early 90s once & they ordered a pizza that got delivered to them on stage during their “union break.”
  9:57pm BH:

not sure if I wanna try and find the election results for the union representation election described in that message to Western Electric

Hey Joey, I lived in Philly the summer I was 19. I shared a house with some Penn students, scooped ice cream at Hilary's on South Street and listened to a lot of WKDU and WXPN as i read lots of books:)
  10:15pm BH:

Del Shannon singing "Under My Thumb" like it's the unofficial sequel to "Runaway"
  10:16pm Joeybug69:

I’ve been to Hillary’s! I was just on Penn’s campus today. That NRBQ gig was at the Chestnut Cabaret! And WKDU is still a fave. XPN is pretty formulaic at this point since it is no longer student run.
  10:17pm Joeybug69:

Fun fact: my first ever YLT show was at Penn’s Museum of Archeology & Anthropology auditorium!
Avatar 10:23pm RobinSays:

Oh cool. When I lived in Philly I didn't go to many shows because I was underage. I did go to a 4AD Records party at Revival -- the club t hat used to be a bank. I also had every intention to go see Half Japanese playing in a Drexel parking garage but I spent so much time getting dressed/doing my hair and makeup that by the tie I got there Jad Fair and co. were playing their last song:(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm melinda:

Sittin' On My Sofa is a great title for a rock song.
Avatar 10:31pm Clyde:

Been loving the show Ira. <3
Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Ira:

I even argued with the Velvet Underground--what a great lyric!
Swag For Life Member 10:35pm Ira:

Where'd that trumpet come from?!
Avatar 10:35pm RobinSays:

Perhaps it's better to be shown the door to bohemia than to have bohemia show you the door?
Avatar 10:37pm RobinSays:

Hey Ira, I'm writing a biography of Wendy O. Williams from The Plasmatics. Did you ever cross paths with her during your New York Rocker days?
  10:39pm georgia:

Hey, it's my segment!
Swag For Life Member 10:41pm Ira:

You beat me to the dedication, Georgia!
  10:42pm Tim 07030:

I just thought of Karen Valentine for the first time in 30 years.
  10:43pm Yes:

Swag For Life Member 10:46pm Ira:

I don't believe I ever saw the Plasmatics. Was intrigued by how large a role they played in Mickey Leigh's I Slept With Joey Ramone.
Avatar 10:50pm RobinSays:

Oh, I have to read that book now--thanx for the tip. I emailed Mickey some weeks ago but never heard back. Is there anyone else you recommend I contact? If this is too much to ask you to do during the course of your show my email is rleisgrau@gmail.com
  10:52pm Marie:

I heard John and Yoko also recorded a song about Slim Jims but that it was never released
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hi there.
Avatar 10:58pm Clyde:

Love this one. Wild.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm Chop Scott:

Ira! So great to hear you on the air. The Spanish I understand is on the menu at Cal Pep! Cheers!!
Avatar 11:12pm Roberto:

I think I heard Schlock Rod on Dr. Demento way back when.
  11:15pm Slaboch:

I've never heard that Don Julian track before!
  11:16pm steveL:

Part 2 is much chillier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm TheLoneliestMonk:

that Jerry McCain track was smokin'!
  11:32pm JVeezus:

Fantastic show tonight
  11:33pm JVeezus:

So much great stuff
  11:35pm Joeybug69:

Delicious ear candy, thanks Mister DeeJay.
Avatar 11:36pm Clyde:

the whole show has been great but this set is fire.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm Gaylord Fields:

The Sandpipers—finally!
Swag For Life Member 11:39pm Ira:

I wondered if you were still up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm Phillippe Bastille:

Nice show Ira. See ya!
  11:43pm Rick G:

Thanks for a great way to spend a Monday evening, Ira.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43pm Gaylord Fields:

Up and dancing, thanks to the Sandpipers (a phrase certainly making its world debut). Thanks, Ira!
Avatar 11:43pm RobinSays:

Hi Gaylord! Like I mentioned to Ira earlier in the comments, I'm under contract to write a biography of Wendy O. Williams. Did you ever cross paths with her or know anyone who did who I could contact?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47pm Gaylord Fields:

Robin, if I put some thought into it, perhaps I can think of someone who could help. All I can recall personally was that in the dressing room at the Mudd Club, I believe it was, someone defaced graffiti of the band's name so that it now read as "Blasmatios"! I hope you can use that — maybe even as the book title. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm TheLoneliestMonk:

i just assumed gaylord lived at the station 24/7, and his downtime was simply lounging around in a bathrobe and slippers waiting to get back on the air...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm Gaylord Fields:

@TheLoneliestMonk: That's silly. I'm barely there at all.
Avatar 11:49pm RobinSays:

You know, I just might use that. Does Blasmatios mean anything? Anyhoozle, please email me if you think of anyone. Hugs to you and the Missus:)
Avatar 11:50pm Clyde:

Gaylord was sighted recently DJing in Brooklyn and his set was so wild the police almost shut the whole bar down!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm Gaylord Fields:

It's likely just someone changing the band's name to make it even sillier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm Gaylord Fields:

@Clyde: OK, that is kinda true. Only in Bushwick do cops enforce repealed cabaret laws.
Avatar 11:52pm RobinSays:

In one of my interviews with Richie Stotts he told me about how he went to the Mudd Club one night with his blue Mohawk hair do and Frank Zappa was there. Shortly thereafter there was a song on a Zappa album called "Mudd Club" mentioning a guy with a blue Mohawk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm TheLoneliestMonk:

great, eclectic mix tonight Ira.
well done...
Avatar 11:56pm Clyde:

Avatar 11:56pm Clyde:

Thanks Ira.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm Cool Runnings:

This Diamond Ring Gary Lewis And The Playboys wish you played that one but I love all of his music too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am TheLoneliestMonk:

g'night all!
  1:04am Ira:

Thanks for listening, and thanks for the comments!
