It's almost time! Sixty minutes of awful audio heading your way at the top of the hour!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm tuning in, setting up, and eating roast vegetables :-) Looking forward to the show :-)
  1:44pm
Heather:

I discovered this a few weeks ago, and I have been listening to older episodes. I've always enjoyed horrible music and can't seem to get enough. This is my first time listening live. I'm looking forward to it.

Hey GG! I won't be able to hang around for your show afterwards, I'm afraid: that interview I mentioned last week? I'm calling her shortly after my show
  1:48pm
Heather:

Thanks for making these dregs of the music world available to us and introducing them to a new audience.

You are absolutely welcome!

I'm doing a live request show in a few weeks time Heather, so let me know your favourite bad records and I'll try to include one or two
  1:51pm
Heather:

I'll have to give it some thought. There are so many out there. You have already played a number of my favorites. It would be best to come up with something that hasn't been on the show yet.
Avatar 1:52pm
worldsworstrecords:

I don't mind, but I guess it would be easier if it's something I definitely have :-)

Lucia Pamela never disappoints. I first heard her on an "Incredibly Strange Music" compilation. This is dreadful.

Although ... it's Sheena's first birthday on Saturday :-)

I played some Shaggs for my wife for the first time last night. She was utterly flummoxed. She was looking for Halloween songs for her pupils so I suggested It's Halloween.

Otis Fodder:

This sounds like I have roast potatoes in my ears. Thank you Weir Sisters... and Larry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
Rich in Washington:

That cover! And the little leisure suit on Larry!
  2:08pm
Heather:

Oh no! More children screeching about Jesus. How is it that Christianity inspires such horrendous music, especially when I consider that some of the best music (i.e. Beethoven's Missa Solemnis) is also inspired by Christianity?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Heather - and all the best music belongs to Satan ;-)
Avatar 2:10pm
worldsworstrecords:

Do you remember an old computer game called Leisure Suit Larry?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I do!!!! Yes!!!
Avatar 2:10pm
worldsworstrecords:

I wonder if its creator saw that album sleeve?
  2:10pm
Heather:

@DJ GeorgyGirl - It certainly seems that way. I've been enjoying some extreme metal lately, and some of it has Satanic themes.
  2:11pm
Heather:

I have most of the games in the Leisure Suit Larry series. I just spent some time getting them working on my modern computer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
Otis Fodder:

Ha, I do. Used to play it on an Apple II in the late 80s.
  2:11pm
Domenic:

Bach credited everything he did for the creator.
Avatar 2:12pm
worldsworstrecords:

Hey Domenic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Heather - have you joined or Facebook group?
www.facebook.com...
  2:13pm
Heather:

I don't use Facebook.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Also, there may be some metal later this week ... ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
Rich in Washington:

As someone who habitually peruses thrift stores, I am often wondering - whatever became of leisure suits? I remember seeing them often in the 80s but it's as if they have been completely purged from the cultural landfill that is thrift store America.
It's gone the way of white dog poo of the 70s.
Avatar 2:13pm
worldsworstrecords:

I assume they all self-combusted
  2:14pm
Heather:

I was just thinking the same thing - leisure suits seem to be extinct. Maybe they'll return one day when we least expect it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
Rich in Washington:

You can now have a Facebook delivered to your house like the phone book. It's handsomely bound, but contains ads :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

That's true - I always see shell suits and assorted other relics of the past but *never* leisure suits.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
Otis Fodder:

... except for the one suit safe in my closet. Lovely couch pattern with butterfly collar that will get another steppin' out on Halloween.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
Rich in Washington:

YES, WWRs! All that polyester!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Maybe there's some insane eccentric collector out there who buys all of them for his or her private vault? ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
Rich in Washington:

I just wonder if someone at both Goodwill and Salvation Army issued an edict that all leisure suits be rounded up and burnt.
  2:15pm
Heather:

Many years ago, I briefly started up a Facebook account. I didn't want to spend the time maintaining it, and it got hacked one day, so I decided that the company had poor security and I deleted the account. I doubt I will ever give them another chance.
  2:15pm

DJ GeorgyGirl:

Oof. I'd rather not. lol
  2:18pm
Domenic:

Hi WWR! thanks for curing this program..
  2:18pm
Heather:

"The Singing Dustman" - I'll have to look into more of his work. This reminds me of Art Carney singing "The Song of the Sewer." That record, unfortunately, is too well performed to be considered truly bad, at least in my opinion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
Otis Fodder:

Oh nice, trailers!

You broke the stream with your bad records
  2:22pm
Domenic:

Stream is all chopped up! Not that that is a bad thing... ;')
  2:23pm
Heather:

Same here - something weird is going on. Hopefully it will clear up soon. It's a shame to interrupt a master like Eilert.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm
Rich in Washington:

fortunately David Dischelle's show also streams on a Leipzig radio station, so we could listen there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm

I think somthing is wrong at the stream provider the WFMU uses for Ichibon, Give e Drommer, and Sheena's Jungle Room
Avatar 2:25pm
worldsworstrecords:

oh hell!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm

Aw, I'm sorry, Darryl! I'm enjoying what I'm hearing when it's on, FWIW!
  2:48pm
Heather:

It sounds like they are having some sort of technical problem with their streams. Hopefully they will get it fixed so that this doesn't keep happening. I'll just plan on coming back later and listening to the last part of the show from the archive.
Avatar 2:49pm
worldsworstrecords:

Thanks Heather - sorry for this
Avatar 2:49pm

Cheers Rich
  2:50pm
Heather:

Things like this happen. I doubt they have much of a budget, so it is probably challenging for them to deal with this sort of issue. Hopefully next week will go better. I'll try the live show again unless something comes up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Really sorry, Darryl :-( It's so frustrating when this happens xx

I'll go back to the archive later as well, and I still have some old shows to catch up on, so I won't have any shortage of horrible music for a while yet. Hopefully it will work out better next week. I'll see you then unless I have a conflict.
  4:20pm
Heather:

The archive is currently messed up - I think the system just recorded the screwed up stream. Hopefully it can be fixed. I'll check back in a few days and see if it is.
  2:10pm
Heather:

It's fixed now.
