This afternoon at Walmart I decided to nip into the Halloween section on my way to the light bulbs. WOW!!! What a mess! It's been pretty ship-shape up until today. It looked like a bunch of looters were having a party at a riot. I decided to forgo trying to push my basket through the mayhem until next week when everything will be ten cents on the dollar.

scary story, not spooky. dude in a 4wd Jeep doing 70 in front of me quickly had a 3wd jeep as the 4th wheel went merrily on it's own down the highway. quickly discovered how quickly my suburban can brake

Jokey stories or actually scary stories? For years I used to have nightmares about a guy breaking into my apartment and strangling me and tying me up with ropes. I eventually found out that a woman was murdered 30 years before in the apartment house across the street, in the middle of the night during a blizzard, and her body was found the next morning hogtied in her apartment. - www.syracuse.com...

Phillipe, I had a similar scary close call on the freeway. On a bright, smoggy day next to the gravel pits in Irwindale, there was a primer grey pick-up truck stalled diagonally across the two middle lanes. I was driving a VW station, which has the engine in the back(sure death if you hit something head on) I yanked the wheel hard and missed the truck by inches. I was pumping so much adrenaline after that, my stuffed up nose cleared itself.

Once there was an old woman who went out in the woods to dig up some roots to cook for dinner. She spotted something sticking out of the leaves and dug around until she uncovered a great big hairy toe. There was some good meat on that toe! It would make a real tasty dinner, so the old woman put it in her basket and took it home.
When she got back to her cottage, the old woman boiled up a cauldron full of hairy toe soup, which she ate for dinner that night. It was the best meal she'd had in weeks! The old woman went to bed that night with a full stomach and a big smile on her face :)
Around midnight, a cold wind started blowing through the tops of the trees outside the old woman's cottage. A large black cloud crept over the moon and from the woods a hollow voice rumbled: "Hairy toe! Hairy toe! I want my hairy toe!" Inside the house, the old woman stirred uneasily in her bed and nervously pulled the covers up over her ears.
From the woods there came a STOMP-STOMP-STOMPING noise as the wind whistled and swirled at the treetops. In the clearing at the edge of the forest, a hollow voice said: "Hairy toe! Hairy toe! I want my hairy toe!" Inside the house, the old woman shuddered and turned in her sleep.
A STOMP-STOMP-STOMPING sound came from the garden path right outside her cottage. The night creatures shivered in their burrows as a hollow voice howled: "Hairy toe! Hairy toe! I want my hairy toe!" Inside the house, the old woman snapped awake. Her whole body shook with fright as she listened to the angry howling in her garden. Jumping out of bed, she ran to the door and barred it. Once the howling stopped for a while and the cottage felt secure, she quietly crept back up the stairs to lay down to sleep once again.
Suddenly, the front door of the cottage burst open with a bang, snapping the bar and sending it splintering into a thousand pieces into the corners of the room. Then came the STOMP-STOMP-STOMPING noise of giant feet walking up the stairs. Peeping out from under the covers, the old woman saw a massive figure filling her doorway. It said: "HAIRY TOE. HAIRY TOE. I WANT MY HAIRY TOE!" The old woman sat upright in terror and shouted: "I ATE your hairy toe!" D: "Yes, you did," said the giant figure very gently as it advanced into the room.

No one 'living' in the region ever saw the old woman again. The only clue to her disappearance was a giant footprint a neighbor found pressed deep into the loose soil of the garden beside the house. The footprint was missing the left big toe.~
