Hi ParUbi of Pittsburgh!
Hi Hopey!
  2:03pm
Martinibomb:

I'm just jumping into this today.. so requests? Don't have much lined up yet
Avatar 2:04pm
βrian:

Is "molotov" the proper salutation when toasting with a martinibomb?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm
Rich in Washington:

Caravan with a drum solo.
  2:04pm
Martinibomb:

@βrian I like that! Hah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm
Rich in Washington:

HA, βrian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm
ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

Hi everyone!
Avatar 2:06pm
Mr Fab:

This is some proper wake-yo-ass-up on a Monday kinda music
Avatar 2:08pm
βrian:

Sadly, it's what our former governor did in a letter to a constituent. Who could make that up?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
Rich in Washington:

Love the Mono Men! Probably one of the most kickass bands I've ever seen live.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
Rich in Washington:

What state are you in, βrian?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm
Rich in Washington:

And Man or Astroman. I saw them on the same bill as Mono Men once and it was probably one of the best goddamn shows I ever attended, start to finish.
Avatar 2:10pm
βrian:

Wisconsin.
Avatar 2:11pm
Mr Fab:

I saw Man or Astroman live at the old Rhino Records store I believe, and they were quite (amusingly) chatty for an instrumental band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
Rich in Washington:

You're killin' it this morning, Martinibomb!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
Rich in Washington:

I saw MoAM in the tiny Satyricon nightclub and by the time they set up their elaborate stage setup, it looked almost like the MST3K set. It was wonderful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
Rich in Washington:

You're merciless, Martinibomb! Is your middle name Ming?
  2:13pm
Martinibomb:

@Rich yeh love Dave Crider/Monomen got to stay over at his house in the 90s Lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
Rich in Washington:

Their whole label/aesthetic. Just wonderful. I think I still have a couple of their mailorder catalogs that were modeled after old men's magazines.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

Saw Guitar Wolf on their last US tour with Bass Wolf. It was amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
Rich in Washington:

I guess all of Estrus' art, flat-files, even some records all perished in a fire. Dave lost all that cool shit.
  2:16pm
Martinibomb:

Art Chanry forever
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
Rich in Washington:

That's cool, Hopey. They're just amazing.
  2:17pm
Martinibomb:

Some of these records are from that fire. Dave literally gave handed em to me with smoke damage etc. makes em cooler
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
Rich in Washington:

Got any Cheater Slicks, MB?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh wow. That's awesome!
Avatar 2:18pm
Mr Fab:

there really is a Bass Wolf?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
Rich in Washington:

I remember when Katrina (I think) hit and you could buy flood damaged 45s from Norton for really cheap. Volunteers turned out to help dry wet records.
Avatar 2:19pm
Mr Fab:

Speaking of theatricality: The Mummies, doing entire shows wrapped head to foot in bandages.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

Talk about getting wrapped up in your... aw, fuck it
  2:20pm
Martinibomb:

@Rich yeh got some chater slicks here..
Avatar 2:20pm
Mr Fab:

Hurricane Sandy hit the Norton hq. you might still be able to buy a grab-bag of rescued vinyl from their site.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm
Rich in Washington:

Sandy. That's what I was thinking about.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
Rich in Washington:

I nearly came down to see The Mummies and Devo a couple years back at Burger Boogaloo but something came up.
Avatar 2:23pm
Mr Fab:

Got any Nashville Pussy, MB? The band, I mean, har har! Always meant to check em out but still havent gotten around to it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm
Rich in Washington:

Did you go to that show, Martinibomb, sometime around 1994, I think, an all-Estrus blowout at Satyricon. I believe it was Subsonics, Cheater Slicks, Mono Men, Man Or Astroman. Just all total ballers from start to finish. It was nuts, also like 120 degrees in there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh yeah! Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
Rich in Washington:

my favorite album by them, too!
  2:27pm
Martinibomb:

yep was there heh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
Rich in Washington:

I suspect we've been to a lot of the same shows before we met.
  2:28pm
Martinibomb:

thought refried went with meximelt so...
  2:29pm
Martinibomb:

Nashville Pussy I can probably get some up yeh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm
Rich in Washington:

Mmm. Meximelt with a side of refried dreams. With a cold horchata.
Avatar 2:31pm
Mr Fab:

That’s funny. Don-o (host of th Hour of Crap here on Sheenas) and I repeatedly crossed paths for years before we knew each other.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm
ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

Would Rusted Shut be show-appropriate? What about Critters Buggin? Or, in an entirely different direction, the JPS Experience?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm
Rich in Washington:

At that aforementioned show, I found the best place to watch in the soldout crowd was by standing on a bench near the back of the room right next to Man or Astroman's projectionist, so we struck up a conversation.
Many years later, I talked a local music blogger - who had this amazing collection of garage rock from around the world - into doing a show on the local college station I was doing a show at at the time. It turned out he was the dude I was talking to at the MoAM show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm
Rich in Washington:

Holy crap. This is cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm
Rich in Washington:

My mother-in-law brought me a bunch of music from her Finland trip and it was nowhere as cool as this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm
ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

Crunchy weirdness, loving the speak-n-spell style voice
Avatar 2:38pm
Mr Fab:

Are you referring to the Jean Paul Sarte Experience, ParUbi? Now there’s a name I havent heard in ages.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

that's was their name until they got sued
Avatar 2:44pm
βrian:

I likes it.
  2:48pm
Martinibomb:

one from our own Ursula 1000 not on any of his albums
Avatar 2:56pm
βrian:

You need a fez to drive one of these cars.
Avatar 2:58pm
Mr Fab:

Ha, you need a fez to listen to this station!
That car-lypso was genius.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm
Rich in Washington:

Great show today!
Avatar 3:00pm
βrian:

Thanks, Martinibomb. Now for some ravioli ....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm
Rich in Washington:

I'm gonna go get a mexi-melt now!
Avatar 3:01pm
Mr Fab:

Join us for Georgy Girl in 2 hours for the Now Sounds of “LoriHajiTura”, followed by the wacked-out wigginess of “Stop Hitting Yourself.” And BIG big ol’ thanks to Martinibomb for stepping in at the last minute.
  3:02pm
