	♥ 1:09am coelacanth∅))): BH a good diner has not great but decent food. some diners don't even have that! ...nd the diners in my area are more expensive than restaurants that aren't called diners, and they generally suck. i always thought a "diner" was by definition inexpensive, but not so.

	♥ 1:16am coelacanth∅))): when i first entered "the work force" i went to the cranford diner regularly. 99¢ 2 eggs, home fries, toast. they got us on the $2. coffees but still! food was good. then the prices went up; quality went down. prices went up some more...
	1:19am rw: I drove past my favorite diner around here recently and it had been torn down. Old school with the tufted vinyl booths, oversized portions, waitresses that call you "hon", crawling with old people. They turned it into a McDonalds.

	1:27am BH: in my area, there was a trolley car sort of restaurant that was concentrating on sandwiches and soup.. and eventually that place moved and last I recall it's operating out of a library. The one time I went to a Waffle House, I didn't budget great and barely escaped with money in my wallet

	♥ 1:31am coelacanth∅))): BH i think waffles have become fashionable! it's astounding how much they charge for a cool-shaped slab of empty calories w/diabetes syrup and butter, when a regular round, flat slab of empty calories (w/same) is like a buck or 2.

	♥ 1:36am slugluv1313: @ rw -- that sucks! as if McDonalds was not already the epitome of PURE EVIL!!! and yeah, diners are supposed to be reasonably priced -- as coelacanthø))) noted, some diners have crappy food, are higher priced, and are stingier with their portions than "regular" restaurants (and yes! i remember the Echo Diner on Route 22 too! is it still there?) near FMU, i found Rumi, the Turkish restaurant -- love their lentil soup (usually with this amazing bread, instead of the usual pita) -- lotsa veg/vegan options, huge portions (for me at least) and decent prices -- but, they close at 10pm and yeah, now i'm hungry too!

	♥ 1:37am coelacanth∅))): yes,Ken seriously! when i lived in nj many of the diners were owned by greeks and so the greece-influenced dishes were really good -like the tomato-feta omelette. even the spanikopita was decent; and it's not easy to find good spanikopita.
	1:39am BH: all of the Waffle Houses in my vicinity are at Interstate exits, so it's a little out of the way. Totally random: eating at a Denny's changed a bit (for the better, IMO) once my municipality banned smoking in restaurants.

	1:52am BH: Denny's probably exists for the people travelling who don't know of better options in the area. I think my boycott list right now is just Chick-Fil-A and Jimmy John's. And even if CFA changes their stripes, their location near me is sorta tough to get in and out of.

I said no and she handed me a cup with soda in it. I took a sip and stopped instantly. I said does this have alcohol in it and she smiled then laughed. I said yo This isn’t fucking funny I’ve been sober for over 20 years! I never went back again.

	♥ 2:33am coelacanth∅))): slugluv, i went (a few times) to a celebration (solstice or something) in i think bedminster hosted by a group that was trying to preserve certain aspects of native american culture, though there was a lot of pagan-ness going on too. and some pyramid ritual. ... i worked at a store in scotch plains that sold a great selection of loose herbs and many of the relocated southern folk and the rastas that came in for home remedies lived in n plainfield. my neighborhood was most hispanic. friendly and not busybodies. fiestas on summer weekends!

	1:19am rw: I drove past my favorite diner around here recently and it had been torn down. Old school with the tufted vinyl booths, oversized portions, waitresses that call you "hon", crawling with old people. They turned it into a McDonalds.

	1:27am BH: in my area, there was a trolley car sort of restaurant that was concentrating on sandwiches and soup.. and eventually that place moved and last I recall it's operating out of a library. The one time I went to a Waffle House, I didn't budget great and barely escaped with money in my wallet

	♥ 1:36am slugluv1313: @ rw -- that sucks! as if McDonalds was not already the epitome of PURE EVIL!!! and yeah, diners are supposed to be reasonably priced -- as coelacanthø))) noted, some diners have crappy food, are higher priced, and are stingier with their portions than "regular" restaurants (and yes! i remember the Echo Diner on Route 22 too! is it still there?) near FMU, i found Rumi, the Turkish restaurant -- love their lentil soup (usually with this amazing bread, instead of the usual pita) -- lotsa veg/vegan options, huge portions (for me at least) and decent prices -- but, they close at 10pm and yeah, now i'm hungry too!

	♥ 1:37am coelacanth∅))): yes,Ken seriously! when i lived in nj many of the diners were owned by greeks and so the greece-influenced dishes were really good -like the tomato-feta omelette. even the spanikopita was decent; and it's not easy to find good spanikopita.
	1:39am BH: all of the Waffle Houses in my vicinity are at Interstate exits, so it's a little out of the way. Totally random: eating at a Denny's changed a bit (for the better, IMO) once my municipality banned smoking in restaurants.

	1:52am BH: Denny's probably exists for the people travelling who don't know of better options in the area. I think my boycott list right now is just Chick-Fil-A and Jimmy John's. And even if CFA changes their stripes, their location near me is sorta tough to get in and out of.

I said no and she handed me a cup with soda in it. I took a sip and stopped instantly. I said does this have alcohol in it and she smiled then laughed. I said yo This isn’t fucking funny I’ve been sober for over 20 years! I never went back again.

	♥ 2:33am coelacanth∅))): slugluv, i went (a few times) to a celebration (solstice or something) in i think bedminster hosted by a group that was trying to preserve certain aspects of native american culture, though there was a lot of pagan-ness going on too. and some pyramid ritual. ... i worked at a store in scotch plains that sold a great selection of loose herbs and many of the relocated southern folk and the rastas that came in for home remedies lived in n plainfield. my neighborhood was most hispanic. friendly and not busybodies. fiestas on summer weekends!
