A cop knelt and kissed the feet of a priest, and the queer threw up at the sight of that.

...nd the diners in my area are more expensive than restaurants that aren't called diners, and they generally suck.
i always thought a "diner" was by definition inexpensive, but not so.

and yeah, diners are *supposed* to be reasonably priced -- as coelacanthø))) noted, some diners have crappy food, are higher priced, and are stingier with their portions than "regular" restaurants (and yes! i remember the Echo Diner on Route 22 too! is it still there?)
near FMU, i found Rumi, the Turkish restaurant -- love their lentil soup (usually with this amazing bread, instead of the usual pita) -- lotsa veg/vegan options, huge portions (for me at least) and decent prices -- but, they close at 10pm
and yeah, now i'm hungry too!

Totally random: eating at a Denny's changed a bit (for the better, IMO) once my municipality banned smoking in restaurants.

I think my boycott list right now is just Chick-Fil-A and Jimmy John's. And even if CFA changes their stripes, their location near me is sorta tough to get in and out of.

years ago, a co-worker in Manhattan was talking about one thing she loved about visiting her family for holidays was going to Denny's, i think she grew up near Pittsburgh
@ coelacantho -- right? the Somerville Circle too! and, i grew up in Martinsville -- some of the most winding, crazy roads ever -- and back then, not nearly as many signs, road barriers, guard rails, etc. as there are now

I didnt know what to say to her after the performance, so I asked her to punch me. She thought about it for .5 of a second and hit me twice. Bloodied my lip. Then hugged me and made me feeeeel her strength..

As for the line about fast food: guess it depends on if you can usually get it without leaving your car?
coelacanth∅))):
i had a friend in branchburg who got beat up pretty bad by manville cops for looking like a "punk" and his '66 impala was severely damaged while impounded there.
apparently some substantial kkk gatherings in that area, at least in the 80s.

but cool! -not fast food!
slugluv1313:
and yeah, when i was a teenager (1970s) kids were ALWAYS getting pulled over if they had long hair, a car that was jacked up in the back, etc.
and the kkk being there would not surprise me AT ALL -- one of the many reasons i realized i had to get the fuck outta there by the time i was 10 or 11 years old -- yes, GORGEOUS land, trees, etc. (although that is rapidly disappearing too), but ugly, narrow-minded humans/attitudes
coelacanth∅))):
and a terrible story iggy (@2.04) she probably was trying to get friendly with you too; but talk about not thinking...

slugluv1313:
i mean, when i was a little kid, we had a "block" party of sorts (the road i grew up on was a dead end!) and even if everyone did not agree on everything, everyone kinda looked out for each other -- this changed drastically in later years, my parents really grew to hate the snooty people moving in -- nosy, busy-body types, but could not be bothered if a neighbor was in trouble, did "not want to get involved" (if that makes any sense!)
have a great night!
