Wikipedia listing for that Henderson album says that Blue Bossa was written by Kenny Dorham who was on trumpet. Just trying to help here and avoid doing work.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm

heartily derivitive of early king crimson. no complaints.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm
coelacanth∅))):

(or would it be "2nd era" crimson?)))
Avatar 8:46pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

i don't know the kc eras so well. kinda reminds me of henry cow.

Good evening all :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01pm
coelacanth∅))):

and i don't know Henry Cow well. 'don't know why not; i've definitely heard it/him more than once on wfmu.
...that track was specifically influenced by "fracture" on starless and bible black. sometimes called the "Bill Bruford era".
Avatar 9:01pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

hiya, red!

Nikel, Dean. Astounding Sounds; Amazing Music.
  9:08pm
Dean:

Ah, Wertmuller, whose work with Brotzmann fairly amazed me in Berkeley c. 2005. Full Blast at a tiny store front venue. Awesome.

Hawkwind?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm
coelacanth∅))):

good catch but no. the nikel track was, i'll say beyond "influenced by" king crimson. still it was it's own -and astounding, amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm
Franco Twinkie:

Hello Kurt and assorted holiday shoppers.
Avatar 9:13pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

wertmuller is also in a remarkable band called steamboat switzerland. not sure if they're still active, tho.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm
coelacanth∅))):

...many elements of fracture and maybe starless and some others, but still it's own thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm
Franco Twinkie:

Dean, are you guys getting pounded at the moment? We're waiting for the deluge to kick in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm
coelacanth∅))):

Dean you got here just in time!
  9:21pm
Dean:

Almost pounded, mostly heavy wind. Colder than usual, so of course the residents complain as if it were a deep freeze.

Will have to sample Nikel. Steamboat Switzerland didn't strike me at first. Might have to try again. Will have to mute for Talking Heads.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm
coelacanth∅))):

hey is anyone else getting distortion?
Avatar 9:23pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

coel, is it bad? consistent?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm
Franco Twinkie:

Oh I forgot, yo're non-plussed by weather.
Avatar 9:23pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

that talking heads record was sounding weird in the studio, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm
coelacanth∅))):

just during the singing here, but i noticed it earlier during louder/ higher-end frequencies (i forget which tracks)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm
coelacanth∅))):

...not getting it on the Bowie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm
Franco Twinkie:

Sounded normal to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm
coelacanth∅))):

okay -maybe i'm imagining it occurred earlier too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm
Franco Twinkie:

A truly great record by a truly great band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm
coelacanth∅))):

holy crap!
i'm busy in the kitchen cleaning cameras but had to come in here to say
Holy Crap!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm
WR:

Kurt, I'm a bit confused, I thought you had a regular program time but appears that this summer when I started listening to WFMU regularly you did several weeks of this Tuesday time slot. So no regular time slot for Miniature Minotaur?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm
coelacanth∅))):

never heard of this album. what the hell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm
coelacanth∅))):

and Franco, yes. even with the help of nirvana meat puppets don't get appreciated by enough people
  9:39pm
Dean:

Never thought much of Graham Parker back in the day. These days I really enjoy him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm
Franco Twinkie:

The Meat Puppets evolution and transformation was a marvelous thing to observe in real time.
  9:41pm
Dean:

Still, my favorite MP record is their first single.
Avatar 9:47pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

wr, yeah, no current slot for ol' kurt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm
Franco Twinkie:

Dean I have it right here, but I must respectfully disagree. They were okay as a chaos band, but when they became psychedelic rangers, they left their former selves in the dust.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm
coelacanth∅))):

i'm still a sucker for meat puppets II...and shamefully admit that i completely lost track of them after too high to die
  9:50pm
Dean:

Yeah, I don't like most of the admired '80s bands, thanks to Steely Dan, whose success permitted cerebral approaches to pop that linger to this day. (Thrill Jockey tends to be so miserably bland.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm
Franco Twinkie:

Magic Toy Missing. They dropped the pretense of been a mutant punk rock band and bloomed into hard ass desert rockers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm
northguineahills:

Thanks Kurt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm

I agree! I agree!
