I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

You must live in a somewhat cool neighborhood to be awakened by Theremin music! That's much better than what we encounter. Here, it's continuously barking dogs, the sound of chainsaws at 7am, or someone randomly shooting in their back yard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm
Rich in Washington:

I also once had a neighbor who would randomly play the cello. She once said something about it to us, somewhat apologetically, and I said that of all the things one hears out here in the country, cello practice is most welcome (except between 10pm and 7am).

Hi, Mayuko, and fellow listenerds.

Re AI, I've been reading this book THE AGE OF SURVEILLANCE CAPITALISM (the subject of a Mark Hurst show), and I fear for our future. But I'm generally a pessimist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm
fred:

Sadly, most of what Mayuko said make us unique apply quite a bit to AI as well. They're highly dependent on personal experience (aka training sets, which is why results are so hard to reproduce), they learn a lot from failure and adversity (adversarial networks are big these days). What they lack when it comes to art is a connection to us, the social, unmentioned side of it that is a kind of language without words.

AI perfecting decaf would be a step to independence, cutting off the energy supply of their human overlords. An ominous sign for our species

people are very childish with this notion of making life better and better with convenience and safety and less work. there are very few logical applications for robots.
(disarming bombs comes to mind; and maybe some surgical procedures...)
