@mariano When the first plane hit, the news etc were still treating it as an accident. When the second plane hit and it became instantly clear it wasn’t an accident, the actual emergency of it became everyone’s awareness in the city. Anyone watching TV or listening to radio was hearing nothing but Twin Towers, an emergency alert would’ve just interrupted whatever reporting was going on moment to moment.

A few years back I was digging through the tapes at a record store in Champaign IL and found a mixing board recording of a Moody Blues show that was recorded in the mid 90s at the university basketball stadium. It was fun to listen to.
