September 30, 2003: Dead Gerbils

Artist Track Album Comments New Approx. start time
Good morning. It's back to that wonderful time of year when I wake up shivering in my apartment every morning and eat my breakfast while hunched over my computer in a hooded-sweatshirt (the hood is in launch position, FYI) and fix another wrecked accuplaylist from yesterday's show. In a few more weeks, I won't even have the benefit of natural light at this hour of the morning anymore. Which is a big part of the reason I turn into such a negative asshole during the chilly months. It's dark when I get up, and then it's dark when I get home from work. If anything scares this turtle back into his shell moreso than being surrounded by Bronwyn, Kelly, and Vicki and being ordered to smell each of them as part of an experiment, as I was on their September 26th show, it's feeling like I live at one of those scientific research bases in Antarctica where it's night for half the year.

Renegade Soundwave  Cocaine Sex (Turbo Lust Mix)   C.S. 12"  When this record came out, it was all the rage with the goth princess types who were in loose command of the Trenton State College radio station I was hanging around at the time. I *hated* Renegade Soundwave then, but I was utterly captivated with teenage-crush syndrome by the black clothes, too-much-mascara, and anhk jewelry style that these girls were sporting, so I played along. (Horrifyingly enough, this is how young men think relationships are born. Luckily, some of them grow out of it.) Years later, I found an old tape of one of those WTSR radio shows, heard "Cocaine Sex" again, and thought it was strangely great. Much to my shock and amazement, it is now regarded with near mythic status by certain elements of the hipster glitterati set and has become a touchstone for fashion and a particular urban swagger here at the start of the 21st Century. Lesson learned as a result of this: If I could see into the future, I would be a rich man.    0:22:13 Pop-up)
