doctorjazz:

Been spending my time ripping CD's and sending them to a friend (my buddy moved from a house to an apartment in Manhattan. He had worked in the music biz, and was a collector, and had about 10,000 CD's collected that wouldn't fit in smaller digs, so he ripped them to a unit that was "foolproof", "redundant", guaranteed to be secure and save his music in case of mishap. Of course, it failed, and he recovered some music, but lost much. He had donated the collection to WFMU. I'm trying to replace what I have, limited to digital, not my LP's). Anyway, ripped much Richard/Linda Thompson (separate and together), The Stones Mono box, The Microscopic Septet, a Reggae Beatles tribute box from Trojan, and Randy Newman's box collection, and Mosaic's complete Early Henry Threadgill box. Any interest in any of this, David (or any other poster out there?). My holiday present if anyone would like it.

dutchtheo, most Indian restaurants over here make a gloopy sauce then either chicken, beef or prawns are added. Really like Sri Lankan and South Indian. Masala Dosas do the job.

I think I'll call it a day soon. As for the strike, it's not just transit, the Paris opera ballet dancers are also on strike. Today they retire at 42, the government's plan is to push that back to 64. No way no how in ballet, 42 is already a big stretch (plus, they start the opera dance school at 8 or so)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm
David Dichelle:

Fred - that is crazy - they showed the ballet dancers on the news here today but didn't really mention why.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 5:43pm
chresti:

David, blindingly so!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm
David Dichelle:

Spodiodi: Does the program show things inside the cities as well?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm
fred:

Yeah, I read that they performed part of Swan Lake in front of the old opera house
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm
David Dichelle:

I guess they'll have 1-to-1 teachers and dancers in the future.
Avatar 🚂 5:48pm
spodiodi:

not very much detail -- some things like bridges and some gerneric-ish buildings. the occasional castle or whatever (i doubt there's much accuracy beyond things like rivers and major roads -- and you can't really explore off the map roads.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm
David Dichelle:

Fred: or at least one would hope that is at least an option if it happens.
