Coffee shop a few blocks from my place plays a wide variety of good musics in the mornings. Recently, Korla Pandit and what sounded like a Japanese opera (No? I don't know.). It's punctuated occasionally with Bon Jovi, Brotzmann, Verdi...always a surprise.

I first remember seeing him in upstate NY when I was five or six and I was fascinated by his banjo playing. I couldn’t decide who I liked better as a child Dr Ralph or Earl Scruggs. They were both forces of nature. Nowadays I’m a Bela Fleck man.
