@Michael: love winter hours, cold weather, and anything else that might drive me inside
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm

The crazy summer heat doesn’t do that as well Danny

Yay! My show for tomorrow is all done, so I can lay back and Cool Flame out!

Here for the CBF oil. Therapeutic, anxiety-reducing, possibly with neuro-protective benefits.

Just got my copy of Dave Sewelson's CD, named (what else?) Music for a Free World! Probably won't get to listen to it for a few days, though...

ParUbi:

Hey everyone
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
WR:

Sounds just like venus in furs doesn't it. Hi all.
  10:19pm
Dean:

Coffee shop a few blocks from my place plays a wide variety of good musics in the mornings. Recently, Korla Pandit and what sounded like a Japanese opera (No? I don't know.). It's punctuated occasionally with Bon Jovi, Brotzmann, Verdi...always a surprise.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:21pm
doctorjazz:

What is Trance #1 like (feels a bit jarring for a trance, more like coming our of one...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm
Little Danny:

Hi ParUbi! Hi WR! (It sure does!) Dean my dude. What sorta crazy beatnik coffeehouses you hangin' out at?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm
Doug Schulkind:

Jack Stanizzo of the Contrails is still playing around town.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm
Little Danny:

@doc: #1 is basically the same concept.
  10:26pm
Dean:

Beatnik ain't half the story. It's called Coffe Conscious. They have live music, weird art, books... It's close by and the coffee is good.
  10:26pm
Dean:

^Coffee
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:29pm
chresti:

Sounds familiar, Dean, on San Pablo?
  10:37pm
Dean:

Nope. Gilman.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
Franco Twinkie:

We were just in a coffee house on Potrero Hill with Granny, but we were the only beatniks in there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I got to see Dr Ralph a number of times in his later years. He was fun.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:39pm
melinda:

hi all
  10:40pm
chresti ->SF:

Near 4th st @ Dean?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm
Franco Twinkie:

Chresti informs me that the place was full of beatniks, but I was focused on my donut.
  10:43pm
Dean:

Gilman at Neilson...not far from Lalime's.

My wife now works at the Potrero branch of the San Francisco Public Library.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
Franco Twinkie:

I had a conversation with Korla Pandit about his preference in Hammond organ speakers - Gibson, not Leslie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
Little Danny:

Melinda, hi!

And hi Franco!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
Little Danny:

@Franco: Of course you talked to Korla Pandit. What was his vibe like?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm
Little Danny:

Our youngest cat just turned my mic on
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm
Little Danny:

@Matt: I don't I'd realized he was a doctor!
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:52pm
melinda:

I'm picturing kitty doing a lounge act
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
Franco Twinkie:

Korla was a real nice guy, as far as I could tell. At the time I was unaware of his true racial identity, I took photos of him playing from behind the stage.
  10:55pm
chresti ->SF:

Betty sounding kind of like Smokey
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm
Little Danny:

@Melinda: she wishes! She's all over my soundboard when I do this show. Just an added element of excitement.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm
Matt from New Orleans:

It was a nickname that caught on in the mid to late 70s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I believe he got an honorary doctorate from some college/university
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I first remember seeing him in upstate NY when I was five or six and I was fascinated by his banjo playing. I couldn’t decide who I liked better as a child Dr Ralph or Earl Scruggs. They were both forces of nature. Nowadays I’m a Bela Fleck man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm
Franco Twinkie:

We have been devouring a pizza from The Mill on Divisadero while we are listening to this three in a row this minor key surftastic mood piece.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm
Little Danny:

"Forces of nature" is definitely a good way to describe the Stanleys in general...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm
Matt from New Orleans:

That’s some pricey pizza Franco
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm
Little Danny:

Oof man I really need to upgrade this Johnny Griffin. Quiet jazz records aren't well-served by surface noise.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
JtotheK:

Arriving in time for Ferrante (AND Teicher!) - hi everyone. Seasonal Greetings to you all - and welcome back Danny!
  11:23pm
chresti ->SF:

Matt-that’s artisanal sf pizza for ya, (it was delicious
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm
Little Danny:

Thank you Jason!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Griffin tenor
  11:32pm
Ignore Function:

I've been pronouncing Teicher wrong all these years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37pm
Little Danny:

Ya know Ignore F. that your pronunciation may be the correct one. I think Evan of the Explorer's Room pronounces it "Tie-sher"
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:38pm
WR:

Do you have the dvd + cd release of Tomorrow Come Someday, and if yes, how is the movie?
  11:40pm
Ignore Function:

That's how I've heard it the very few times I've heard it pronounced.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41pm
Little Danny:

Heya WR, like a lot of the soundtrack music I play, I have not unfortunately seen the accompanying movie. Novice moves over here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm
Little Danny:

I feel like it's the sort of movie that would pop up on Youtube for a coupla months at a time...
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:45pm
JtotheK:

Speaking of novice moves & movies, I'm /finally/ getting around to watching Sid Lumet's take on Orient Express. But because I start movies so late I end up falling asleep and it takes days to watch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm
Matt from New Orleans:

It’s pretty good Jason. Great cast sort of squandered.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:49pm
JtotheK:

And next up in my movie to watch queue is The Breaking Point from 1950.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm
Little Danny:

Thanks Matt, I musta been confusing Griffin with some other player
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Jason the only breaking point I’ve seen is a garbage mafia related film with Bo Swenson directed by Bob Clark(A Christmas Story)
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:55pm
JtotheK:

I haven't seen that one ... this Breaking Point is based on Ernie Hemingway 'To Have and Have Not' -- and I've not seen the Bogart/Bacall version of 'To Have . . . '
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I remembered the movie Jason. Solid studio film. I was writing much the same but deleted it now that I saw your reply.
Avatar 11:58pm
fleep:

Thanks, LD!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm
Matt from New Orleans:

It’s much closer to the Hemingway than the Bogie Bacall version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Thanks Danny. Have a great night everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am
Franco Twinkie:

Thanks Danny. No more holiday nonsense, back on track.
