Kind of like taking your parents record collection and getting drunk in a Radio Shack. Rock and Roll, Rhythm and Blues, Garage Punk, Regular Punk and Old-Fashioned Weirdos. Hopefully you have the patience for this fast-paced sonic impatience. Not recommended for the fan of 4 minute songs.

  2:09pm
Martinibomb:

That's kinda what I do every day as well! Hah Except more synths/organ/keys than drums
  2:10pm
Martinibomb:

Casio SK-1 changed EVERYTHING for me!!
  2:15pm
Martinibomb:

A friend had the sk-1 and that's what got me into synths/samplers for sure. I still use a Casio as they make pretty good digital piano
Avatar 2:17pm
recordrouletteclub:

I bought a Maschine 16-pad sampler thingy a few years back and it kicked my ASS. Its still sitting there just waiting for me to figure it out. I wasn't the most intuitive thing for me..

"Mah-Na-Mah-Na"! From KTels "Goofy Greats" a very important album to my young self.
  2:20pm
Martinibomb:

@RRC I'm pretty into that kind of MPC type production tho I do not have the Machine. I have an old school MPC 1000 that I love to death. Used to have the old 2000xl in the 90s
  2:21pm
Martinibomb:

@RRC & Fab there are some really fantastic hardware samplers *Finally* starting to come out since maybe 2000.
Avatar 2:22pm
recordrouletteclub:

I just wish that the software wasn't so much of a factor with the samplers now, but that's just the way of the present and future..
  2:23pm
Martinibomb:

I am rather excited about the 1010 Blackbox and the Isla Sp2400. Good chance I may pick up one of those in 2020.
  2:23pm
Martinibomb:

@RRC yeh I prefer the stand alone unit to being tied to a computer
  2:24pm
Martinibomb:

That 1010 Blackbox may be right up your alley and Mr Fab it's got a really easy gong workflow. It's tiny and you can power on a usb brick for portability. Plus it does disc streaming so you can drop a huge amount of audio on a tiny sd card
Avatar 2:26pm
recordrouletteclub:

MARTINI-Who makes the Blackbox 1010?
  2:26pm
Martinibomb:

Yeah a company called 1010. They have mostly made modular synths and are a great company from what I understand.
  2:27pm
Martinibomb:

I am saving up for one right now LOL.. I've got bad gear lust for that Blackbox right now
Avatar 2:27pm
recordrouletteclub:

1010 is a great digital name!!
  2:28pm
Martinibomb:

^Hah yeah I thought so too
Avatar 2:29pm
recordrouletteclub:

I like the simplicity (at least from first look on a computer)
  2:30pm
Martinibomb:

Yes, exactly it has an uncomplicated workflow
Avatar 2:31pm
recordrouletteclub:

Do you want a Maschnie Sampler for cheap?
  2:31pm
Martinibomb:

you can plugin usb midi play pads/keys etc.. with it
  2:32pm
Martinibomb:

No, the machine doesn't fit into my setup. But from my understanding you shouldn't have an issue selling it for a decent price they seem to hold their value for a controller.
Avatar 2:33pm
recordrouletteclub:

I hear ya
  2:33pm
Martinibomb:

I've sort of attained equilibrium with my music setup and I cringe at the thought of adding another piece of gear to learn. The blackbox does fit in tho I could get rid of my DAW for the most part.
Avatar 2:40pm
Mr Fab:

I think I was really put off by Jay Reatard's name, i figured, how could he be with a name like that? But keep hearing good things, so should really check him out.

Avatar 2:43pm
