her book "Just Kids" is highly recommended, I'm sure many of you know it already.

Hey, two rocking chicks I've seen live, Patti Smith, and Wanda jackson! Not on the same show, unfortunately.
  7:06pm
Martinibomb:

she's singing all her stuff right now it's pretty awesome
Avatar 7:06pm
Mr Fab:

Well, you might see Wanda herself one day.She still tours!
Avatar 7:07pm

I saw Patti in New York, small club about 76. just a knockout show.
  7:07pm

She's almost the very last of that group
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I've just got M Train on Audible - looking forward to that :-)
Avatar 7:07pm

Rich, this is my anti-S.A.D. mix. This, plus cocktails should do the trick.
Avatar 7:09pm
Mr Fab:

THis track is from a CD I just ticked up at Amoeba the other day - a whole album of different versions of Viva Las Vegas.

A live Johnny Thunders album I had no idea existed til recently.
  7:13pm
Martinibomb:

@Fab ya better hurry up the original owner just turned 90 I think? who knows what will happen after he's gone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm
Rich in Washington:

I seem to have this talent for going to theme parks when they're shut down (Enchanted Forest - we hopped the fence!) or being significantly overhauled (Disneyland in the early 90s. I got to see all the train tracks under the boats in Adventureland)
Avatar 7:14pm
Mr Fab:

Ha, Aaron, YEAH baby! I talk like this all the time, ya dig?
  7:14pm
Martinibomb:

I saw a IG post about wyrd war maybe doing another live event at the enchanted forest.. they did one for the record release. So I'd like to ask him about that.. maybe sheena can live cast it?
  7:14pm
Dave in St Albans UK:

I can dream that Patti will visit our shores someday. Yes please!
  7:15pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Patti Smith played a church in Brighton about ten minutes away from where I live.
Avatar 7:16pm
Mr Fab:

Thanks to Georgy for her fantastic playlist updating. GG, I'm imagining you typing away in some Mad Men-type steno pool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

There's steam coming off my fingers! ;-)
Avatar 7:17pm

That's great! Churches have such good acoustics. Must have been some show.
I saw her (with Flea on bass for some reason) outdoors, on the Santa Monica Pier.
  7:18pm
Aaron in Minneapolis:

So so very good mr Perkins
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I hasten to add that I didn't see her because the tickets sold out in a nano-second. lol
I've seen Gillian Welch play a church in Brighton tho - the same church I saw The Residents in. :-)

Gillian Welch feels like family to me
  7:19pm
Martinibomb:

@Granny ever been to the Enchanted Forest?
  7:20pm
CC:

I guess you must be engineering Georgy Girls show tonight Mister Fab???
Avatar 7:20pm
Mr Fab:

Aaron, i think guys like Perkins (and BiIll Haley) get totally underrated ,in America at least. We all know a couple iconic songs of theirs and rarely go further. There is such great stuff when you dig deep.
Avatar 7:21pm
Mr Fab:

CC: No, it's my show. I don't have my own show page, so GG's hosting it on her page.
  7:21pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I finished a playlist today which has this very song on it - mind meld!
  7:30pm
Aaron in Minneapolis:

This rips off the theme from shaft
Avatar 7:30pm
Mr Fab:

great thing about a band name like Bloodsucking Zombies From Outer Space - they will never be critic's darling. They could make the best records on earth, but they will never be on any best-of lists. It's a noble sacrifice.
  7:31pm
CC:

Wow... that's like ESP Georgy Girl!!!
Avatar 7:31pm
Mr Fab:

..from the man who wrote the Theme From Shaft! Guess he's allowed to?
  7:32pm
Aaron in Minneapolis:

I just want to see him sue himself
Avatar 7:32pm
Mr Fab:

that's funny GG. But Sheena's DJs are somewhat on a similar track much of the time, so it happens occasionally 'round here.
  7:32pm
CC:

Mr Fab... do you ever just DJ off the cuff???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Mr Fab = oh more than occasionally ;-)
Avatar 7:33pm
Mr Fab:

Well, John Fogerty was sued for ripping off one of his old Creedence tunes. The music biz is a funny thing.
  7:34pm
Aaron in Minneapolis:

True lol
Avatar 7:34pm
Mr Fab:

Jerry Lewis sings with Rat Pack here!
  7:35pm
Aaron in Minneapolis:

Why does this sound rough?
Avatar 7:35pm
Mr Fab:

CC, I'm not really set up to do much off-the-cuff DJing. But I've hung out on this show before with Spacebrother Greg.
Avatar 7:35pm
Mr Fab:

Don't think it's an "official" release, Aaron.

I think this was Kurt's original vision, but the label said MORE ANGRY!!!
Avatar 7:39pm
Linda Lee:

it's lovely!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Dave Grohl said that Kurt wanted to be a country singer, and if you listen to the master tapes you can hear it in his vocals. Mind blowing. :-)
  7:41pm
CC:

Well...it's always nice to be in the same mood you were in when you made the playlist as when you're playing it!!!...eh???
Avatar 7:41pm
Linda Lee:

Kurt might still be around if he'd gone country.
Avatar 7:42pm

@LL - nice thought but the physical ailments still would have got to him, poor bugger :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did, to be honest :-(
Avatar 7:44pm

got to him, but possibly easier to handle without the intensive stress of rock success.
  7:44pm
CC:

some people think it's way too easy to get a gun!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

That definitely put extra stress on him, for sure.

I have one of those fun undiagnosed stomach problems like cobain. It's not fun

I used to get super sick if I drank soda. Mostly avoided them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm

I am due to watch Repo Man again.
Anybody ever see Alex Cox's direct to digital, shot on green screen sequel Repo Chick?
Avatar 7:53pm
Mr Fab:

hmm, can't find any actual music by the Intoxicats. Just a live thing?
Avatar 7:55pm
Mr Fab:

Wow, did not know that existed Rich. I just remember he wrote a comic book sequel to Repo Man.
  7:55pm

You only ask why if it's Rye!!!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Huge round of applause for our very own Mr Fab, folks!
Take a bow, Mr Fab! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm
Rich in Washington:

Repo Chick wasn't very good, especially in light of the original film, but I just thought it was so goddamned audacious. Like a guerrilla film. You could sort of forgive its ridiculous cheapness. It also had a much stronger Anarchist/Marxist bent than any of his Hollywood or even semi-indy films.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm
Rich in Washington:

Fantastic show and mixin', Fabster!
I hope you do this more often!
  8:00pm
