So weird. When I walked in the room and to "Everyday" was playing, my first thought was of Micky Dolenz singing it instead of Buddy Holly. Yes, I know that disc was neither of them, but still. Maybe it's a commentary on my life that I listen to too much Monkees. Lol.
Avatar 6:52pm
cometothesunshine:

perhaps
  6:52pm

Lol
  6:53pm
Doug in Boston:

Razor's Edge is sort of like Gary Lewis by way of the 4 Seasons. That's what I love about these singles. The productions capture the sound of the era without being overly familiar songs.

Definitely. The drums sound great on this single. One of my fav Fortunes tunes.
Avatar 7:01pm
cometothesunshine:

The drumming on the Idol is great
Avatar 7:03pm

This one actually turned up in stereo on a later comp - you would be hard pressed to listen/purchase The Fortunes original 1960's recordings on Spotify or iTunes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm

Cool promo video of this surfaced on the tube
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm

Stupid question probably, but did they have big hits in the Netherlands? Surprised they didn't hit in the UK with some of this stuff. Sits nicely next to some of the Tremeloes stuff of the same period.

Avatar 7:52pm

The Fortunes are really underrated. They put out so many records, but have never been properly anthologized.
  7:52pm

I agree as well, though at first I was annoyed with the talking over the intros
  7:53pm

I'm always impressed with the condition, and resulting sound, of the Matthews tapes.
