Scratchy vanity 45s, pilfered field recordings, muddy off-the-radio sounds, homemade congregational tapes and vintage commercial gospel throw-downs; a little preachin', a little salvation, a little audio tomfoolery.

  8:20pm Cabbage:

Re: In the Upper Room... Donne's Hymn to My God In My Sickness: Since I am coming to that holy room,
Where, with thy choir of saints for evermore,
I shall be made thy music; as I come
I tune the instrument here at the door,
And what I must do then, think here before.

Whilst my physicians by their love are grown
Cosmographers, and I their map, who lie
Flat on this bed, that by them may be shown
That this is my south-west discovery,
Per fretum febris, by these straits to die,

I joy, that in these straits I see my west;
For, though their currents yield return to none,
What shall my west hurt me? As west and east
In all flat maps (and I am one) are one,
So death doth touch the resurrection. ...

Avatar 8:42pm sinner:

BD: I push you down.
  8:43pm Listener Robert:

On a serious "note" re Reginald's story, I've been listening to my friend & housemate's Worship Music compilation CD. Seems it's the music they sing in his church in Dover, NJ. It's all pop/rock style on Christian topics, including some live audience recordings. Apparently that's the fashion now, so it wouldn't surprise me if there's heavy metal church music now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm Brian D:

Stryper!
  8:46pm Listener Robert:

Thanks, Brian D, I just looked them up in Wikipedia. I wonder if Peter Bagge's cartoon essay of some years ago on Christian Rock mentioned them.
  8:47pm LiXiviated Life:

All creation praise the lord.
Don’t matter the beat.
Avatar 8:50pm JakeGould:
