Avatar 4:25pm Billy Jam:

PLEASE NOTE: to fully make the point of the effects of censorship on the art form of hip-hop that there are two different archvied versions of this show - the clean FCC approved one played during the live FM broadcast and stream between 7-8pm today EST + the uncensored EXPLICIT curse-heavy version that will have been posted to the archives upon completion of the live broadcast. Hence in the archives both versions will be playable anytime after the live broadcast. During the pre-recorded interviews with WFMU's Joe D and Ken Freedman I encouraged both to curse at will - assuring them that I would edit out the curses for the initial live FM broadcast version but would leave all curses intact for the "explicit" archive show version. Note that the other key difference between the two archived versions is that the "explicit" version will not be accuplaylist/time-stamped - hence upon playback you will not be able to jump to specific points in show to song start positions. -
Avatar 4:29pm Billy Jam:

thanks to all who participated in today's show - including Joe D and Ken Freedman for doing interviews, Celeste in Albany for recording drop for today's show and Danny Barry (aka recording artist DeMolina) for suppling the music played behind Celeste's voiceover, Jim the Poet for engineering today's show and both Rebecca L + John Dalton for posting the clean and explicit versions respectively to the archives. And thanks to all the hip-hop artists for recording their great music that will be played today. And thank YOU for listening to this live show and later to the explicit version.

Commenting is tricky due to server glitches, thankfully I hear you loud and clear!
  7:04pm jimthepoet:

Hey having trouble commenting but loving the show so far
Avatar 7:08pm Ignatatus666:

Greetings from the dark roads in Peekskill 19566
I heard about this curse no curse version tonight
Are there going to be bleeps etc. where the jams are censored?
Avatar 7:12pm Ignatatus666:

I just had the same issue. And other glitches. I thought I was being censored. Honestly because I was censored on another show this week
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Smilty69:

Good evening, Billy Jam, friends, & Error 509!
Avatar 7:16pm Billy Jam:

me too - ten fuckin frustrating minutes trying to fix this shit :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm Tommy in Neversink:

Maybe just play something else
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm Tommy in Neversink:

OH, sorry that's the point of the show....sorry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm Smilty69:

Correction: Error 503. Too $hort!!
Avatar 7:24pm mariano:

Wow, Billy - this makes such a powerful statement on censorship in a really original way. And at the same time, it's funny, like an SNL skit or something: "Hip Hop's Greatest Hits [Kids' Version]!"
Avatar 7:26pm Chud:

This is rad, Billy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm common:

Words. Billy all!
Avatar 7:27pm Chud:

When the show is archived, I'm tempted to mix the mono of both into left and right stereo channels...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm chresti:

It started during Stashu's show, the 503s!
Avatar 7:29pm Billy Jam:

as the DJ it is even more frustrating since it took me ages to get it working and even then the website keeps dropping out on me - argh - but this is a rarity at W F M U know
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm chresti:

What if the beeps were replaced with a voice saying "la la la...", etc.
  7:32pm celeste:

show's working great though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm Smilty69:

The show online has been intact so far.
Avatar 7:32pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Change your wfmu.org or www.wfmu.org to freeform.wfmu.org , and you will at least avoid those 503 errors and have a greater likelihood of eventually getting the page you requested.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm -Ken:

Hi All - Sorry about the problems- we are being DDOS’ed, second time in a week. We will be better later tonight.
  7:33pm BH:

the radio friendly chorus of "Gangsta Gangsta" sure does take a different lane than the album chorus
Avatar 7:34pm mariano:

Wait, are folks losing connection to the FMU stream? All fine on my end, fwiw.
Avatar 7:34pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

We don't know if we are being hacked, but we are experiencing explained network issues.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm Alex of Chicago:

That Too Short song was hilarious.
  7:35pm John from Florham park:

Hope it is better
Avatar 7:35pm jimthepoet:

Эй, ребята, перестаньте нас взламывать
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm chris:

listening and loving the show. hey to all! can't wait for the uncensored archive!
Avatar 7:35pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Billy Jam, change the www.wfmu.org or wfmu.org to freeform.wfmu.org in your browser's URL field in your playlist editor
Avatar 7:35pm mariano:

Lol, chresti - or do some creative dubbing, like "find a stranger in the Alps" from the TV cut of Lebowski, or "super sucker" from the TV version of Casino.
Avatar 7:36pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

(*unexplained network issues.) One adjustment was made a few minutes ago, and perhaps we're doing better for it now.
Avatar 7:37pm Billy Jam:

@Kenzo - yeah I did that -read your initial email - but it still drops out - its okay thanks
Avatar 7:37pm Special Monkey:

can you play dope man?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm -Ken:

Mariano makes an excellent point: the streams and the FM radio are fine. The only problem is with the playlist pages and the internal WFMU pages (homepage still works mostly). Things seem slightly better now, thanks Kenzo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I remember hearing John Denver with that bleepy song of his.
Avatar 7:46pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Made one more change; hopefully helps...
  7:46pm BH:

I'm blaming the phonescammers with spoofed caller ID information for this. Obviously they want WFMU to play more songs about the "Social Security Administration" calling you to steal your ID
Avatar 7:47pm Jim the Poet:

Looks a little better
  7:48pm John from Florham park:

@Jim the poet it is very strange second week in a row
Avatar 7:48pm Billy Jam:

@Jim the Poet - yep seems to be alright - thank you all for your patience and Kenzo for fine-tuning and fixing stuff always on website always
Avatar 7:49pm Jim the Poet:

was it during sheila's show last week?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm chresti:

Thanks Kenzo.
  7:50pm John from Florham park:

@billy jam but a second week in a row, someone must have it in for this station
  7:51pm John from Florham park:

@jim the poet stated during Bryce’s show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm chresti:

Sounds great!
Avatar 7:52pm Billy Jam:

to fully appreciate this show I recommend listening back in archives to the uncensored version
  7:53pm John from Florham park:

@billy jam I will as soon as you put it up
  7:54pm celeste:

pizza for one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm chris:

dirty is always better. have a great one, all. and thanks to all for making this happen.
Avatar 7:55pm Billy Jam:

thanks to Kenzo, Jim the Poet, Celeste, Joe D, Ken Freedman, Rebecca L & John Dalton for posting to archvies in 2 versions
Avatar 7:56pm Chud:

@Kenzo, are you a wizard?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm Smilty69:

Thanks for the great show, Billy Jam! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm chresti:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm Ken From Hyde Park:
