So censored, expurgated and rewritten was the then Poet Laureate’s 'wordbook' to suit the various sensitivities of Charles II, then James II, and finally the newly crowned King William III, that many aspects of Arthurian legend failed to make the final cut. In a Python doc I was surprised to learn that the Dallas PBS TV station was one of the first in the USA to broadcast the series. I already loved the Bonzos so immediately connected with Pythons. Just checked and wikipedia says that was in summer 74, so 5 years in. Other USA PBS stations soon followed. CBC Canada had started in 70. I didn't have a TV so had to visit someone who did on broadcast nights.
