So censored, expurgated and rewritten was the then Poet Laureate’s 'wordbook' to suit the various sensitivities of Charles II, then James II, and finally the newly crowned King William III, that many aspects of Arthurian legend failed to make the final cut. Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25am WR:

In a Python doc I was surprised to learn that the Dallas PBS TV station was one of the first in the USA to broadcast the series. I already loved the Bonzos so immediately connected with Pythons. Just checked and wikipedia says that was in summer 74, so 5 years in. Other USA PBS stations soon followed. CBC Canada had started in 70. I didn't have a TV so had to visit someone who did on broadcast nights.

@Nulsh @Pablexa - Sigh, I miss 80s C4. You used to be able to just tune in and see the most amazing stuff. I remember after Samuel Beckett died, they did a month long series called 'A Wake for Sam', showing film and TV adaptations, documentaries and so on. Can you imagine that today?
  8:33am Earth Walker:

I love it

  8:36am Earth Walker:

It’s 14h35 here in France 2:35
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36am WR:

Watched Meaning of Life before going to sleep last night and awoke to these remixes. Jones played both Courrette (the fat guy eating and vomiting) and the cleaning lady, so he was vomiting on hisself, metaphorically speaking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37am WR:

Oops, yes, Mr. Creosote. And the waiter bit is poignant.
Avatar 8:37am David (in London):

Road Dreams? Don't think so. Or was that the thing with David Rappaport?

Great show, Carol! Listening now on the archive and simultaneously sending you a quick message. Meantime, briefly noted - isn't that Eric Idle singing The Lumberjack Song" at the end? It's usually Michael Palin! That was his sketch! Curiouser and curiouser... x
