Thanks for another great show, Jan

Jan Turkenburg:

This is one of my favorites! We always played that in my band Steppin Stone Visit in Belgium. I can hear the late Duncan singing along.
Avatar 2:03pm
worldsworstrecords:

the 1,000th track is coming up later. Any ideas who that might be from?
Avatar 2:03pm
worldsworstrecords:

Glad to oblige Jan!

Martinibomb:

1000?!!I didn't realize u we're keeping track. No idea what you are going play
Avatar 2:06pm
worldsworstrecords:

Yep: I have a spreadsheet with all of the tracks on I have played, so that i don't repeat myself too often

Oh man. It's about time Ringo ended up here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
Rich in Washington:

I've long had a dream of forming a Beatles tribute band that only plays Ringo songs. We'd be called The Dungbeatles.
Avatar 2:08pm
worldsworstrecords:

hahaha!
  2:08pm
Martinibomb:

I am impressed RRC I am like the opposite Heh I don't keep track. I know I repeat a few tracks I love but for the most part I don't repeat myself much
  2:09pm

I wanna play in the dungbeatles
Avatar 2:10pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm
Rich in Washington:

this is epic!
  2:12pm
Listener Robert:

Missed the first two numbers today. Last week I had to quit before quite reaching the end of Mr. Miller, it was that bad. I mean, I COME HERE FOR THE WORST, and I STILL couldn't take that one.
Avatar 2:13pm
worldsworstrecords:

hahaha! Thanks Robert: that's quite a compliment!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
Dominick:

YAY! Sam!
Avatar 2:17pm
worldsworstrecords:

I love Sam so much
  2:17pm
Listener Robert:

I lived here with Listener Steve (a longer-time WFMU listener than even me, since I go back only to 1980) until his stroke, and we used to see who could stand some of the more, uh, "challenging" pieces Fabio or Bryce or whoever would play, and I could usually outlast him. So for me to have to turn off Mr. Miller, even just barely short of the fast track, is indeed quite a testament to unlistenability.
Avatar 2:19pm
worldsworstrecords:

I am deeply humbled :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Rich in Washington:

I love Mrs. Miller because she reminds me of both my maternal grandmother and also my wife's maternal grandmother, who would spontaneously break into warbly, tremulous singing.
Avatar 2:20pm
worldsworstrecords:

I would love grandparents like that Rich
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm
Rich in Washington:

I found a bootleg copy of this recently. It made my day.
Avatar 2:24pm

I've only got the pirate CD
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm
Rich in Washington:

That's what mine is. I'm not picky about formats. I think an actual LP of this is going for a mint.
Avatar 2:26pm
worldsworstrecords:

yes, and the 45s that are not include on the album are around $200 a piece
  2:26pm

Peter is the BEST singing actor

This is such a wonderfully mad album
Avatar 2:28pm

next song is number 999...
  2:29pm
Listener Robert:

"Lost" was connected in a couple of ways to Peter Wyngard3. First, the plot was largely based on that of episodes of "Department S" that he starred in. Second, the plot was also based on a Marvel Comics character based on him: Mastermind.
Avatar 2:29pm
worldsworstrecords:

I did not know that, Robert
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm

oh dear god. no.

Hi everybody!!

That SAM SACKS track looks amazing. Missed it. Might have to go back and catch it on the archives..
  2:31pm
Listener Robert:

It seems that outside the makers of "Lost" (including my friend's son Damon, who ran the show), I'm the only one who knows what "Lost" was really about, and even I haven't nailed down the last details, Damon made it so hard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm
Rich in Washington:

There's a great bit in Bobcat Goldthwait's film God Bless America that takes on the then-recent mass public consumption of 'bad' music.
Avatar 2:32pm
worldsworstrecords:

Hey RRC! Welcome!
  2:33pm
Martinibomb:

I've never watched Lost but I've seen all of Department S/Jason King and the Xmen comics with Mastermind.. Also in the Invisibles by Grant Morrison there is a Jason King character. Now you've got me curious about Lost.
Avatar 2:33pm

I shall try and check that out, Rich
