Ursula1000:

Greetings! Today's episode is inspired by a party we throw here in NY called Turtleneck at Beauty Bar. It happens to be tonight so I thought I'd play tracks that you'd probably hear there.

Now I'm wondering if I still have any of those pointy collared shirts left from the 70s.
Avatar 1:14pm
Otis Fodder:

Fronting in front of the computer now like I'm wearing a Turtleneck sipping on an old-fashioned... when in reality, I am wearing a hoodie slurping a humongous cup of coffee. Daydreams are made of these.
Avatar 1:15pm
Ursula1000:

hop into that Holodeck in your mind!
Avatar 1:16pm
BC Sterrett:

What is this synthy succulence? Nice
Avatar 1:17pm

Otis Fodder:

Ha, yea U1K. I can imagine your Moog Vinyl Collection and we probably have a ton of the same gems.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm

Hey Ursula, that last track had kind of a James Coburn feeling.

Franco Twinkie:

Otis, exactly! Right now I'm going over to someones house to get another copy of Don't Forget Wash Your Ass by Redd Foxx. I figure it'll be a good present in the future for one of my senile friends who needs to be reminded.
  1:33pm
Martinibomb:

Avatar 1:33pm
Mr Fab:

  1:45pm
Martinibomb:

This song floored me the first time I heard it. Still kinda blows me away
Avatar 1:46pm
Otis Fodder:

I had a Casio SK-1 and Synsonics Drums and tape deck with a pause button in '86. Rocked it!

Otis Fodder:

...slightly after, the massive wood kick of my Alesis HR-16 tried to bump trunks but only rattled the coffee cup holder.
Avatar 1:48pm
Ursula1000:

ah to think of what we managed to do w that vintage "gear"!
Avatar 1:49pm
Otis Fodder:

Use what we got, to get what we want. Same mantra, different days. But totally, it's what's there, rock it.
  1:50pm
Martinibomb:

I think limitations are good for art.
Avatar 1:50pm
Mr Fab:

Was annoying how the Akai was mono only. And its loops would slip out of time. But had so much fun messin with it.
Avatar 1:50pm
Ursula1000:

yep! I've always kept my arsenal minimal
  1:51pm
Martinibomb:

limitations make you get creative .. more with less is totally true
  1:54pm
Martinibomb:

@fab the s900 did stereo but there was a mono mode I think u probably had that on
  1:55pm
Martinibomb:

That 10sec sampling time on sp1200 sort of created that boom bap sound theyd pitch up and sampe to save space then pitch down witch made it all gritty
Avatar 1:56pm
Mr Fab:

Or might have had to do with what disks i used to save my samples?
Avatar 1:56pm
Otis Fodder:

Real nice set/selections. Have a great spin/show this eve!
Avatar 1:56pm
Ursula1000:
