Hello! Well ahead of schedule here; in fact listening to your 80s show broadcast last monday. As always, there are a couple of ones I had not heard before. Thumbs up especially for The Chauffeur; proves my point Duran Duran were nicking so much stuff from Japan. For me this is their finest hour, in spite or because of the copycat excess, I mean this could easily be a track from Quiet Life or Gentlemen Take Polaroids. Nowhere else does Simon Le Bon sound so much like David Sylvian. OK, apologies for throwing these comments here, how off topic can one get before your show has even started?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Mr Fab - I think it all fits in with the stereo testing boom. Songs that are contemporary enough but not too out there for Mom and Dad to set up the equipment and entertain their liberal neighbours at dinner parties ;-)

I think also - using my parents as an example - althoughn they listened to The Beatles and The Stones and so on, they were also young marrieds, so the idea of being too "out there" was frowned upon. This way they could swing a little but not upset anyone.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm

@ParUbi - I liked it too :-) And it showed the internal struggle of being young in the 60s but also bound by social mores and conventions. It was really well done.
