This is the first time I've heard classical music on WFMU. Honestly, I thought it was against the station's rules!
I'm listening to a regular radio, so I actually thought WFMU went off-air and I was picking up that other 91.1--the classical station from Brick Township.

Hello. Listening. Grateful for this hour.

Stochastic Hit Parade is still a very WFMU classic music show

Thanks, @ToTetsu - that's my aim, to make this genre of music as unexpected as any other on the FMU airwaves. Lucky to have all open ears out there!

Did you ever see the Casper the Friendly Ghost in which Casper visits Schubert's ghost and helps him complete his 9th?

Bethany Ryker:

Back in 2002 in the early days of Stochastic Hit Parade, DJ Rix (whom we sadly lost years back) played a Mozart horn concerto on his FMU show after I told him I played that instrument...at the time I was so fixed on avant-type music I wouldn't have dared to play something like that on my show...but the truth about FMU is that if you love something genuinely, it's fit for air. With that folks...Schubert....

...and if a weirdo like Luciano Berio takes the time to orchestrate this piece, I think it's darn worth a listen!

Listening to A440 has reawakened my long dormant love of classical music - thank you Bethany and WFMU!

Mr. Pumpy:

This Berio is so damn relaxing...yet substantial. Great choice!

Bethany Ryker:

For me it has these subtle/not-so-subtle refractions of the late 20th C. on the early 19th...which can't exactly be quantified in terms of years

Thanks Bethany!
