There are also some good Charlie Chesterman solo albums and outtakes collections that are worth seeing out.

Most or all his/their stuff is OOP now.

Thanks for Scruffy the Cat, a band I discovered probably by hearing "My Baby She's Alright" here (or another non-commercial station) and getting "Tiny Days" from the library. Like them a lot, but annoyed none of their stuff seemed to be on CD (I think now it's mostly just downloads); I have that album & an EP on vinyl. They didn't even have a Wikipedia page until a few years ago! (and even that is sort sparse---no links to the albums or info on them, etc.

They Might Be Giants had this subscription/club years ago, The Hello Music Club, where you'd get monthly EPs from different acts, mostly exclusive material. Chesterman (well, Chaz & the orbikes) did one of those.

Yeah, been listening to early BS (Smokin' OPs, Beautiful Loser) & they're good (there's also now a collection of his early singles on Abkco, inc. a couple of funny attempts to cash in on Dylan, and the Beach Boys). Then heard "Face the Promise" and said....what the hell happened to him?

Nice to hear the original version of "Seven Nights"...a song Springsteen's done live (too slow) & Nick Lowe covered (faster and probably better).

I'm sad that we're going to miss ToPT's Marathon kick-off. The dog turns Leap 2 today, and we have a whole pinball-beer-screw-February bday party planned for him (at THAT laundromat). So hope it goes well and kicks muh-neeee ass!

@MS: Remember, Kate and I will be for ToPT's show 3/14 and can talk some urban canoeing with you then!

Great show today. Thanks!
