Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

And all killer no filler today in terms of music - some favourites to entertain you while you pledge :-)

Awesome live version of "Spill the Wine"! I saw Eric Burdon about 10 years ago and he shook my hand! I was standing right in front of the stage- He has a firm grip! I will say that! LOL!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's fab isn't it? :-) I thought I'd kick off the show in style ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm

super start of the show, Georgy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm

Hi Jan! Thank you for the show! I was silent in the background but it was excellent as always :-)

@photocopy haha! You can thank Chel White local film maker here in Portland Oregon. It's from a film he did In early 90s it's on YouTube if you search
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm

The easiest way to support WFMU is the Swag For Life - a regular monthly donation to the station which helps keep us on the air AND you can choose goodies like t-shirts and premium DJ CDs :-)

Photocopy Cha Cha:

hmm, I am no prog fan but van der graaf generator is amfirm favourite of mine. hope to catch them this may - the first and maybe the last time they come to finland; I have been lucky and have seen them three times plus once pre-reunion when they surprised the audience by appearing out of nowhere mid-song during peter hammill's encore (still life) back in 2003
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Oooo!!! Fingers crossed! I do love a bit of Van Der Graaf :-)

My partner was supposed to be at a concert tonight in Hastings but three trains were cancelled so he had to give up and come home :-(
Avatar 4:22pm
Photocopy Cha Cha:

speaking of prog, I am getting worried about starting to like Gabriel-era Genesis - OK, I love his solo albums especially Melt and So (80s cheesy but SO what - heard it as a kid, and never learned to hate it)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

LOL! I love Peter Gabriel era Genesis ;-) I must be beaming psychic vibes at you :-)

@gg I was reading your partners music blog. He is very dedicated. Seems like he sees a lot of live music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm

Avatar 4:27pm
Photocopy Cha Cha:

Yep you and Julie (Wfmu drummer/dark night of the soul) have managed to brainwash me towards genesis! Although I did like Lamb Lies Down On Broadway as an 8-year old - the music and the hipgnosis cover art did give me nightmares though! maybe a bit too difficult music at such a tender age...
  4:27pm
Martinibomb:

Kinda wish he had a show just playing local music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - my joy at the news of Genesis reunited was tempered by Peter Gabriel not being part of it :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MB - he did a couple that I produced for him but it wasn't really his thing. I did a fill-in for Danny featuring a bunch of local Brighton punk and noise music tho. :-)
  4:29pm
Martinibomb:

I know people who did this wonderful animated music videos for Peter in the 80s. That was all done here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm

The claymation ones? I loved those :-)

another one you and julie have both played - pre-disco bee gees. I really really need to get to know this early stuff better. Earlier I knew only NY mining disaster 1941 from a BBC live at the beeb show they broadcast twice (1987-88 & 1992) in finnish radio

Avatar 5:20pm
Photocopy Cha Cha:

funny that "Stereo sound, stereo sound..." and then comes Amen Corner with the rhythm track on the left channel and handclaps+horns on the right (I am wearingt headphones so...) as a reminder that most 60s music in better in mono ;) but then again these horrible 1960s stereo mixes have their erratic charm.
