Just a lil bit of new news here: IL is closing all bars & restaurants by tomorrow night in entire state, OH closing them all by tonight, CA asking bars/clubs/wineries to close (restaurants to be @ half capacity), Puerto Rico to close all businesses except groceries, pharmacies and gas stations. more to follow prob.

NYC is not doing a completely bad job but somewhat baffling reaction to restaurants and bars: 1/2 capacity but even at that most places are dead. And bars in idiot neighborhoods like the East Village are not doing a great job. Oh, and public schools are still open. Wow! So dumb.

They need to enforce a shutdown of schools, force personal grooming businesses — salons, mani-pedi places, barber shops and such — to close, and that’s that for at least month. You tell people to not touch faces and wash hands and those places are still open?

Anyway, I am set at home for now. Remember folks: Don’t panic!

And unless someone in your building is sick, go outside and sit there to enjoy the day. Take a reasonable walk. Because going stir crazy can be worse that you think.

@chresti: Pollution might go down as well. I decided to head to midtown and walk from Times Square and vicinity to Bryant Park. The level of deadness was amazing. I used to work in Midtown and nobody generally likes to be there since it is so tense, filled with tourists and B.S.

Today… It was so quiet and calm… I don’t even remember any time in my life where I felt that calm in midtown. The level of casual jaywalking was next level. No fear of being hit. Bryant Park had people but everyone was chill. So weird and cool and weird.
