Thanks, Franco. Here's the original photo caption: "The Streets Of The Louisville Waterfront Area, Portland, Are Deserted Following Evacuation. A Barge Carrying Liquid Chlorine Had Broken Loose From Its Tug On The Ohio River And Was In Danger Of Spilling Its Poisonous Contents. The Evacuation Lasted Only 24 Hours, As The Barge Was Stablilized And The Chlorine Safely Pumped From Its Tanks, March 1972"

The board is nice.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm

the hookah and the bong probably too small to be useful but the rest might be functional
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm

The kids love cassettes. They say they're cheap, but CDs are cheap too. I am ready for the CD revival to take hold. It can only be a matter of 12-32 months, by my calculations.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm
doctorjazz:

I did manage to hold out until the vinyl comeback, but cassettes always sucked.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm
doctorjazz:

Gotta konk out, thanks, Sam, night all!

Have been busy but listening. This clarinet player came on just in time for me to sit down for a few minutes of close attention and comment civilities.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm
coelacanth∅:

'night doc

...the idea that cassettes are cheap is ludicrous. a few years ago, before cds became the enemy, i was buying blank, very high quality (taiyo yuden [sp?]) cds for aboiut 30¢ each. the cheapest, crappiest cassettes on earth were never that inexpensive - not from the mid-60s to now. never.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm
chresti:

I liked that clarinet sound.
🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:35pm
WR:

Wow. It says name your price. Oh what to do.
🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:36pm
WR:

Yes, intense clarinet sound, hyper real clarity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm
Sam Segal:

Jeremiah Cymerman also does a great podcast where he interviews jazz/improv/creative music people. Check it out, if that's your bag: www.5049records.com...

WR:

Thank you for the sounds Sam. Tonight's show had a distinctive flow. Almost a horse of a different color but still with Sam Segal. G'night all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm
Sam Segal:

Thanks for being here, WR!

Heya, Andrew!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm

i notice that the top row of monetary supporters of that Jeremiah Cymerman album has at least 2 wfmu show hosts in it.
good reference
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm
chresti:

Yeah, I saw Jeff G.
  11:52pm
JakeGould:

The cassette revival is the dumbest thing ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm
coelacanth∅:

actually i see Jeff G a lot when i'm cruising bandcamp; others occasionally
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm
coelacanth∅:

i like cassettes, but i'm not going to pretend they don't have shortcomings. cds are excellent -my favorite thing after records; but also some serious shortcomings.

Sam Segal:

If anyone wants to follow me on Bandcamp, this is my profile. Would love to follow any of you. bandcamp.com...

Sam Segal:

I like cassettes because a lot of great labels release mainly on cassette, but CD is my favorite medium for good price-to-sound quality ratio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am
coelacanth∅:

records don't play well in a moving vehicle

Thank you Sam! Excellent. Good night everyone!
