Charles Mingus said jazz was a word invented to separate musicians from their money. Music for a Free World brings us together, drawing listeners to the healing power of smooth free jazz. Each week, surprise guests bring their own sides to spin and their instruments of choice to spontaneously jam.

@Jim Ryan: There's a "sign in" link at the very top of the playlist page. I can't tell you how to sign in if you're using the app though (I don't have a phone)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm
doctorjazz:

I did it by going to the WFMU home page using the Chrome browser (on my PC or my Android phone). Sign in is on the upper right side. Ok the phone Listen Now gives choices of the main station pure the different streams, and going to the one you want, with selection of today's show, let's you comment. Not as bad as it sounds...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm

The app also had a way to do it, but haven't tried it.

hmmmmmmm no radio and no heart . . . good grief, now I spect money is required . . . o well . . .
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:37pm
fred:

@Jim: Yep, because our money is all the money the station gets. If you send money to the station once (using the "pledge now" thing above the playlist), you get a heart. If you commit to sending money each month, you get a radio (I think the minimum is $10, but I'm probably wrong)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm
Doug Schulkind:

Oh good lord! Johnny Hodges' alto saxophone is breathtaking. It makes me so happy to know that the man was graced with an object befitting his beauty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm
Dave Sewelson:

doug...isnt that horn amazing! i am sure he would have sounded great on anything.....
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:41pm
fred:

@Jim: All the money is ours, and that's why the only advertising you might hear on the station is for defunct products from the '50s, and there isn't even much of that
Avatar 3:42pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm
Doug Schulkind:

A couple of the Drummer Stream shows had been produced live at WFMU. Those shows have to transition to a home-based production. We are working on getting home studios up and running in the meantime, 100% Whatever with Mary Wing and Underwater Theme Park with Meghan might have to run archives with live playlists. All other shows should continue as you are accustomed.

Actually, Ridgewood Radio might have to pre-record a few shows. David Weinstein can't travel to Ridgewood to do the show, so he has to get a rig together at his home.

Blessedly, in recent months, Sam Segal, Mayuko and Julie had all transitioned to using home studios.

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO AND ITS STUPENDOUS RADIOMAKERS ARE HERE FOR YOU!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm

@chresti
Uncle Michael, especially, has been providing station manager Ken with helpful tools, tutorials, and assistance. Martinibomb has shared his expertise, too. I have added my 2¢. It's a team effort.
