David in London:

Hey Mariano, it’s OK, calm but a little eerie. I was telling Handy and John earlier that I managed to visit a bookshop today and it felt like an hour of sanity and normality on the edge of strange darkness. How are you doing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm
Handy Haversack:

Hey, @mariano,. We went on a ~3 mile walk with the dog to get him his flea medicine and ended up hitting several shops to add to the emergency supplies (and I had realized one of my two pairs of jeans was about to fall completely apart; got to look respectable for the apocalypse!). AND LOTS OF BOOZE. So it got fairly epic but was really nice just to see some sunlight and people and dogs and whatnot. Talked to a WFMU listener for a nice long while, and she gave us several plants.
  3:49pm
David in London:

Stanley, hey hey. The Rainbow in Finsbury Park?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm
Stanley:

@David - The very one. I went to a whole bunch of gigs at the Rainbow. That and the Hammersmith Odeon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm
Handy Haversack:

The stores had things in place to make you stand back? And one small pharmacy was making people queue outside and come in one at a time.

My attempt to hoard onions is ongoing. I have a feeling the sufficient number of onions is irrational or imaginary or both.
  3:53pm
David in London:

Stanley, that’s very cool. Wish the Rainbow was still extant. There’s some great footage on YouTube of the Ramones playing there on Boxing Day ‘77.
  3:54pm
David in London:

Handy, how many onions have you managed to stash so far?

There are notes in Andy Scott's voice that remind me very much of my friend Chris's accent. He's from a small town in the NE and says people from towns ten miles away on either side can't understand his accent. In London he has to have his wife phone for pizza because everyone says they have no idea what he's saying.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm

David - I was only fourteen at the time and well into my glam, esp Roxy Music who I also saw there.
The Hammersmith Odeon took over from The Rainbow for that size of venue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm

Coincidentally the names of a red and blond ale that we used to brew.
