Musical theater from off the beaten path. Obscure and unusual show tunes from within the canon and without, flops, failures, and the newest works from up-and-coming artists—plus tried-and-true hits. Also, occasional appearances from songs that are not show tunes (but only if they go really well with show tunes).

Good God, this page is loud ... Heya Bronwyn.

Hi Bronwyn and Mr. & Ms. First Nighters!
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:04pm doctorjazz:

Hello, Bronwyn, live tonight, no?
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:04pm diciassette:

Ahoy everyone! (even cockroaches)
Avatar 7:04pm Scяaps:

h'lo hey hmm hmm
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:14pm Webhamster Henry:

Miss Liberty is the source of Berlin's setting of "The New Colossus".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Bronwyn Bishop:

hi everyone :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Bronwyn Bishop:

@doctorjazz: still prerecorded but the playlist is live at least
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:24pm diciassette:

The Mormons have an amazing geneology database. They really like to keep track of themselves (I got in there somehow)
Avatar 7:27pm Scraps.:

my seen-it-in-previews was Urinetown; those days I was a big fan of Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind, seen it every weekend, and made friends with the cast, including Greg Kotis, author of Urinetown, so I saw it way way early (when the cast read it in script). Couldn't believe that Urinetown blew way up....

Oh, and saw Passing Strange in pre-Broadway, pre-cut.

that's it, though...
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:27pm doctorjazz:

That's fine, feels live with an active playlist and chatboard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm Bronwyn Bishop:

@scraps: im not a big urinetown person but im jealous solely because john cullum was in that cast (i love him)
Avatar 7:29pm Scraps.:

i had a crush on Spencer Kayden
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:32pm Webhamster Henry:

For a while, scripts and backer opportunities would come our way because my father was involved with the Goodspeed Opera House when it started up and got "stuck" with 3/4 of a share of Man Of La Mancha, which paid grocery bills for a number of years! We saw LaMancha when it was at the ANTA Theatre.
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:35pm Webhamster Henry:

I went to one backer's audition in the early 70s, when Jesus Christ Superstar was making the shows about religions kind of popular. This show was called Faith, not a particularly memorable show about a girl who was a faith healer. We had the script around for years, I don't know what happened to it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm Bronwyn Bishop:

@doctorjazz: i keep being like "oh no this song is about to end! oh wait i don't have to do anything"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm Bronwyn Bishop:

@Henry: im so jealous, i want to go to a backer's audition!! well i guess i'll eventually be auditioning for backers but i want to go to one without being the one begging for money
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm Bronwyn Bishop:

how are you all holding up? hope my playlist pals are doing well
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:40pm Webhamster Henry:

I myself put money into an off-Broadway show that was kind of successful: "A... My Name Is Alice" There is an OST recording! Probably the best known original cast members are Randy Graff and Charlayne Woodward, but it also had/has a long regional theatre afterlife and a sequel,"A... My Name is Still Alice"
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:41pm Webhamster Henry:

Now I'm broke, but there was a time when I could be an off-Broadway Angel.
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:43pm diciassette:

I am fine, but out of picholines, so my martini feels naked
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm Bronwyn Bishop:

@henry: u will be an angel if you come see my lil show when things come back!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm Bronwyn Bishop:

@diciassette: I had to google "picholine" but I am glad you are having a martini listening to my show!! I feel very fancy having a martini show!!
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:45pm diciassette:

If this isn't a martini show I don't know what is!
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:49pm Webhamster Henry:

Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:56pm WR:

Oops. So busy with work forgot to connect. Still working so won't be active commenting. Did they just sing "Christian cowboy?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm Bronwyn Bishop:

yep- that song is apparently from a Billy Graham movie?? (rather than originally from that musical)
  7:58pm sugarwolf:

Hello hello
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:59pm Cmurtha:

Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:03pm Cmurtha:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:28pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi there, AJH participants (pants optional these days, they say).
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:29pm Webhamster Henry:

Goodspeed tries to have 1 or 2 originals a year. I'm kind of out of touch with them though.Of course, theatre these days is kind of theoretical.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm Bronwyn Bishop:

hi ken!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm Bronwyn Bishop:

@henry: theatre will come back!!
Avatar 8:50pm Scяaps:

Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 9:06pm Webhamster Henry:

G'nite! That was lots of fun and excellent crate digging!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Michael 98145:

enjoying this archive!
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 12:10pm WR:

Is that really the Varèse Sarabande
release of Man On The Moon? It is obviously an audience recording, quite listenable, not complaining but surprised that only an audience recording was available to Varèse Sarabande. Ah your announcements explains. Too bad the show didn't get better treatment. I felt similar vibe as with Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 2:47pm WR:

That set starting with Cole Porter and Noel Coward and then with the "torch singers" was sublime. Very very much love it.
  7:43pm Marie:

LoVe your show, Bronwyn!!!!!! tx
