	12:45am JakeGould: I meant to say minimal. Not noise. Still have issues with noise.
	12:47am sv: yeah, pure noise only does it for me in short bursts or when it's added to something else that isn't pure noise
	12:47am sv: even if it's just drone or a thin strand of melody
	12:49am JakeGould: Knew some noise musicians in Chicago and they were kinda annoying. But hey!

	♥ 12:56am Scott Williams: There's value in noise, its textures and densities (as Varese called it). No one likes all noises. But noise is an absolutely valid musical component
	♥ 12:56am coelacanth∅: i like a lot of noise music, but yeah it's not pure noise. there are rhythms and pitch changes and maybe other sounds. pure noise is just - pure noise? ...i don't know what pure noise is! i mean i've heard it but i don't come across it that often, and i'm often looking into new noise.

	12:58am sv: scott, that's such a good way of putting it - i really appreciate noise as a component, but not as the sole feature, i guess. i don't have a hunger for harsh noise walls, though more power to you if you do.
	♥ 1:00am coelacanth∅: one thing i can't stand...and i've turned off, as fast as i could, even some of my favorite wfmu shows because of it - is very high frequency.
	1:01am sv: yeah, i feel that. those releases from ryoji ikeda or other glitch people from back around the turn of the century that just feature extremely high frequency compositions ain't my cup of tea, though i do find their effects on the ears fascinating [if unpleasant]

	♥ 1:02am Scott Williams: yeah, harsh power electronics don't feel right to me (I also vaguely suspect violent, malicious, or petulant intent...) I go more for the naturally generated stuff. Call me old-fashioned!

	1:07am jonny: SV...wax...I was involved in a classic 1991 digital movie...an early internet format...called...Wax or the Discovery of Television Among the Bees...anyways check it out...wax requests:wax and wane by Cocteau Twins...or Mexico wax solvent by The Fall...sticky resin syrup...bright glorious yellow earth...multiply expand...
	1:07am sv: i will say that prurient is an amazing performer - i saw him open for tim hecker when i was sick a few years back, so i'd been taking sudafed for a few days and was feeling vertiginous and paranoid. really worked.

	1:11am duck: it took me a long time to like noise and we have a bunch in pvd. i remember going to a super aggro show one time with i think a 'band' from new york. it was pretty much in the complete darkness with a bunch of folks clad in black running around twisting knobs on boxes to shape an overall screeching wooshing type sound as loud as a jet turbine. i wish i could say it made me feel a certain way. it didn't, but i remember it well.

	♥ 1:23am coelacanth∅: ... i was gently lowered into the noise pool. i was getting into boris and found a 99¢ download of a boris album -one track over an hour long, so i went for it. there was no mention of another artist but it's boris with merzbow. "sun baked snow cave". starts very gentle and the noise never overpowers the rest of the music. that was maybe 15 years ago and i still love it.

	♥ 1:29am Andrew Waterloo: I never made it, but London, Ontario used to have a festival called No Music. It was curated by Nihilist Spasm band.

	1:40am sv: they released this record along with two others at the same time, i think. insane how prolific they are.
	♥ 1:42am Andrew Waterloo: Interesting group.. the drummer has a bit of Paul Stanley rock star thing going on while the other two are basically shoegazers.
	♥ 1:42am coelacanth∅: the newest one i have, i think, is gensho (another collaboration with Merzbow) which is 2016. i might just like their collaborations better, in general.

	1:11am duck: it took me a long time to like noise and we have a bunch in pvd. i remember going to a super aggro show one time with i think a 'band' from new york. it was pretty much in the complete darkness with a bunch of folks clad in black running around twisting knobs on boxes to shape an overall screeching wooshing type sound as loud as a jet turbine. i wish i could say it made me feel a certain way. it didn't, but i remember it well.

	♥ 1:23am coelacanth∅: ... i was gently lowered into the noise pool. i was getting into boris and found a 99¢ download of a boris album -one track over an hour long, so i went for it. there was no mention of another artist but it's boris with merzbow. "sun baked snow cave". starts very gentle and the noise never overpowers the rest of the music. that was maybe 15 years ago and i still love it.
