Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm
StringOFperils:

As a pallid straight creature who lives by day, I can only stand in awe of all of the great material that gained traction in the New York night....used to have art school friends who'd come back to TO from forays to The Saint and places like that back in the 80s, carrying this stuff back with them
Avatar 1:29pm
Ursula1000:

I've always been a sucker cold, detached vocal deliveries!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm
StringOFperils:

@MR. Fab. How do I begin to answer that one? I do draw and paint very well, BUT, being the struggling working-class morlock that I am, I spent most of my time, for a long time, grinding through whatever, at newspapers, the CBC, a couple of animation studios...none of which turned my crank. It bored me once I got 'good'. I live 'inviisibly' while entertaining theories about communication, language, signs and signal reception, anthroplogy, propaganda, miscommunication, narcissism, sociopathy, the future....I'm an island. There was a lot of violence in my childhood that seems to have increasingly compelled me to hide in plain sight. Plus, once mature, and psychoanalysed a little, I felt that I was beholden to no one (save my partner), so I suppose it motivated me to move beyond drawing, and the expectations of others (who are all too frequently very nasty), I try to keep moving, to live, like a shark. And I remain invisible...all indicators to the contrary. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

StringOFperils: i can dig it
  1:49pm
Martinibomb:

@String I have done much of the same kind o work.. animation studios, tv studios.. newspapers yup
Avatar 1:49pm
Mr Fab:

@StringOFperils: Ah...so no comic books, eh? ;)

Marianne Faithfull tested positive, but is still alive. hang in there, lady.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm
chresti:

StringO, you are not alone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm
Sem:

Positively chipper, compared to Broken English.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm
StringOFperils:

Mr. Fab, I cannot watch cartoons at all, I cringe at cereal boxes, and I get nauseous at the thought of a Disney channel. And I worship at the feet of Marianne Faithful, and pray that tough old bird pulls through.
Avatar 1:52pm
Ursula1000:

latest reports r that she's stable :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm
chresti:

I have friends that got burned out doing production work at animation studios.
  1:54pm
Martinibomb:

@String Hah I know that feeling too well I got burned out doing animation work too can't stand most animation I see these days
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm
StringOFperils:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm

Avatar 1:55pm

Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

This Cristina track was on Rodney Bingenheimer's "Rodney on the ROQ vol 1," one of the first albums I remember buying on my own. Pretty sophisticated stuff for a 15 year old, ha.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm

Mr.Fab, Just saw the post about Mort Drucker. Before Zap Comix, there was Mad. For me something to aspire to, and Mort Drucker led the charge with his parodies of the movies of the moment. Mad is gone. The world is shrinking before our eyes.
