Reading "Now playing" almost convinced me I'd had a stroke.

Good morning, Ms. M.. Hope all is well w/ you and yours.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03am
Meghan:

You are NOT having a stroke! Today IS Friday! Good morning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03am
ParUbi:

Welke gekke taal was dat?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04am
Meghan:

Good question ParUbi! Good Morning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06am
Meghan:

Just to update everyone, I am missing one component for a home studio, I am almost there! Just missing the power cable to the mixer! Hopefully I will TRULY be live soon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06am
ParUbi:

I wonder if Jan Turkenburg is listening?
  7:08am
Dave B.:

Hey hey hey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09am
Meghan:

Good morning Dave! Did your "dog" wake you up?
  Swag For Life Member 7:09am
WR:

Hi Meghan. Hi all. Every Friday is Good Friday in the Underwater Theme Park.
  7:10am
Dave B.:

Nah... he’s set to wake at 8:30, sleep at 10:30. I run a strict house!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10am
Meghan:

Good morning WR! I forgot it was Good Friday too!
  Swag For Life Member 7:12am
WR:

Good evening, what date is this from?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12am
Meghan:

AHHHH this is why it was a 3 hour show!!!! It will only be 2 hours today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13am
Meghan:

November 18, 2017
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13am
Meghan:

until 9 AM today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14am

Hi eveyone!

Today's phrase: "suffused with microscopic cracks"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16am
Meghan:

Hello Elwyn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17am
Meghan:

How is everyone holding up?! Is everyone doing ok?! Besides losing your minds being stuck inside!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17am
Phillippe Bastille:

Good morning
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18am
ParUbi:

Just burnt my fingers on a formerly microwave safe plate
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18am
Meghan:

Good morning Phillippe!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19am
Meghan:

haha, note formerly! Thanks plate... jerk!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20am
Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

I haven't exercised for a week. I felt like I had a cold but it was probably a mild sinus infection.
I think I'll go for a run tonight after the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20am
ParUbi:

I guess they can absorb water over time, especially if their surface is "suffused with microscopic cracks" (thanks, internet)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21am
ParUbi:

My exercise bike is hard a work causing me guilt when I walk by it. Cleared laundry off it, which is a step toward exercise!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22am
Meghan:

I went running on Monday and Tuesday. I am being picky as the weather yesterday was unpredictable. The wind last night woke me up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22am
Phillippe Bastille:

@ParUbi I have this bowl I like that I have been using in the microwave well over a decade and while I was rinsing it the other day to put it in the dishwasher I noticed the "Not safe for use in a microwave" on the bottom. I wonder if I have been leaching chemicals into my soup all these years.
Avatar 7:26am
Fox:

Hullo everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26am
Phillippe Bastille:

It's just getting to temp where I am happy doing any outdoors exercising. I was in a work accident about 40 years ago and had multiple facial fractures that will hurt when I breathe in in the winter. I usually try to snowbird for Feb to get a jump on getting outdoors, but that didn't happen the past 2 years.
  7:26am
Dave B.:

I’m actually doing well, and haven’t been out on the street since last Tuesday. I have my place and roof AND access to the vacant apartment across the hall!

Winning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27am
Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

I am not sure if it's dry enough to go running where I am.

Has anyone been to their record store lately? I haven't.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28am
Meghan:

Good morning Fox!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29am
Meghan:

I haven't even been online record shopping!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29am
ParUbi:

I bet most chemicals that leach out of things are neutral to bad for you, but there's got to be some chemical that's just super great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30am
ParUbi:

I hit the bandcamp pretty hard recently
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31am
Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

i pre-ordered the forthcoming new album from The Beths.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31am
Meghan:

bandcamp has had some great sales too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33am
Brian in UK:

Hello Meghan, I like my eggs coddled. We are lucky here with a decent sized garden and loads to do at this time of year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33am
Meghan:

I wish I had a garden to tend. Our community garden is closed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am
Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

I have an indoor window sill garden.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am
ParUbi:

Both birds and humans like to coddle eggs, but ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am
Brian in UK:

@Phillippe Bastille, yesterday I dropped a favorite bowl, it was a good size for porridge and granola. You don't miss your water etc.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38am
Brian in UK:

First swallows sighted this week here and by two other friends around the country. That is something to smile about.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39am
ParUbi:

There's also an Irish dish called coddle, hmmm
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39am
Meghan:

I was able to have the windows open a bunch of days this week, so I have been enjoying that. And I just washed my windows... Wow what a difference!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39am
ParUbi:

That's so cool-- I love to watch the swallows swoop around in the evening. And bats!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42am
Brian in UK:

ParUbi, yes the bats are out too just around dusk for a short while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43am
Phillippe Bastille:

@Brian in UK. Huge uptick in birds here. We live in a cottage that backs up to a small river off the Chesapeake Bay, and we're seeing a lot of overlap -- some of the wintering ducks haven't flown out yet, the stuff migrating north is making rest stops, and the fair weather birds are coming in. Egrets and osprey splashing down in the backyard are quite the thing to watch
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44am
Sem:

Good morning, Brian. We lost all of our little brown bats here about 10 years go to some virus or other, miss the little guys, especially for the # of mosquitoes they dispatched.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45am
ParUbi:

A lot of them have been dying from the white nose fungus :\
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45am
Brian in UK:

@PB that sounds wonderful. A flying V of honking geese always gets my attention. It sounds like the "wingmen" are saying left a bit, right a bit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46am
Meghan:

we have a bird that chirps all day and night, but I am wondering if it's a mockingbird, since I have seen one dive bombing people on the side walk
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46am
Sem:

@Phillippe: Spring arrives here once the ospreys return, which is usually the 13-14-15th of April.

@ParUbi: that's the culprit, a fungus not a virus. Thx.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47am
Brian in UK:

Sem, that is sad. The weather link you sent looks like there is some action up Fundy way just now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48am
Sem:

Blowing a gale here, Brian, as the fishermen would have it. W/ snow flurries.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49am
Meghan:

Must be part of the storm my friend had in Maine... she sent a picture of the blizzard
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50am
Brian in UK:

South West Greenland (what's left of it) always seems to be 'interesting' for weathr action.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50am
Sem:

Weather fans, this is the wind map to which the Laird of Shropshire refers: earth.nullschool.net...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50am
Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

I'm going to duck off the comments section to listen while playing violent video games.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50am
ParUbi:

We even had a dusting of snow this morning here in Pittsburgh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51am
ParUbi:

@Sem-- that is really cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52am
Meghan:

wow, that is so visually pleasing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53am
Sem:

Adjustable to anywhere on earth, the deeper the green, or when it turns reddish, are winds of 50 mph +
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54am
Phillippe Bastille:

@Sem that's a cool map! Consider it bookmarked!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56am
ParUbi:

All those whorls and swoops. Like living fingerprints!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56am
Brian in UK:

I dip in now and then otherwise it could become addictive. Unlike this crazy station!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56am
Meghan:

There are almost NO winds happening in South America! That is odd! Except down near the tip... but that is fascinating
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56am
Phillippe Bastille:

Kite sales clearly down in South America
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57am
ParUbi:

Wow, look at that system south of Greenland!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58am
Meghan:

hahaha, Good thing I gave up on being a kite salesman there!
  Swag For Life Member 8:03am
WR:

Since I just heard you play Hamad Kalkaba I have been looking at releases on bandcamp by Analog Africa. You have general opinion about their releases?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05am
Meghan:

I can honestly say that they are one of the few labels that I trust in completely. i think they have put out so much great stuff. I was nervous when they started to do stuff from South America, but even that has been wonderful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09am
Charlie:

o mi corazon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09am
Meghan:

that was perfect timing Charlie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10am
Charlie:

hi meghan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10am
Meghan:

Did you get a snow storm up by you yesterday?
  Swag For Life Member 8:12am
WR:

This Latin rock set is working for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15am
Charlie:

no snow here, wasn't that cold. lotta rain tho
  8:19am
Mark R:

Really digging these rockin' world sounds this a.m Meghan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19am
Doug Schulkind:

Now, even MORE confusing! Meghan is everywhere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19am
Meghan:

Yay, shout out to the drummer stream!!! haha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20am
Meghan:

Morning Doug and Mark!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22am
Mark Hurst:

Coincidentally I'm wearing my UTP t-shirt today - the octopus is spinning records!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25am
Meghan:

Morning Mark!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26am
Meghan:

You were prepared for today's show!
  8:26am
Listener Robert:

Meghan, next time birdie is on a bombing run, see if he has 2 white stripes under each wing. If so, he's a mockie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27am
Meghan:

Oh? Interesting! We do get them nesting in the park so they become protective. They have bombed my poor dog, swooping down and almost nipping her in the butt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28am
Doug Schulkind:

Oh boy do I adore this King Ayisoba stuff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30am
ParUbi:

I just realized that is Humpty with an extreme lobotomy
  8:32am
Listener Robert:

A mockie who nested around the corner of where I lived in the Bronx became enamored of Totsy the Cat next door, and would swoop when he turned his back.

That was Screechy Cat Mocker, who used to just chirp a little in the daytime and then seemed to belt out the entire Berlioz repertoir at night when we were trying to sleep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33am
Meghan:

hahaha, sounds like my guy. My neighbor and I have named him Billie Byrd
  8:34am
Listener Robert:

Screechy got married to a lady bird named Chip who liked to perch on the TV antenna at Totsy's after Totsy and family moved out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39am
Charlie:

gotta hit the showers and go to work. great show as always, meghan:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40am
Meghan:

Thanks Charlie! Stay safe and healthy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40am
Charlie:

you too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44am
Meghan:

That time is all off! haha. 9 o clock is right, but not the right day or time of day!
  8:44am
Listener Robert:

Totsy was apparently Screechy's first love. Screechy got that name from screeching at him all day, only settled down to daytime chirping with Chip, whom he settled for when he realized Totsy was gone.

Today my housemate, also a Robert, was explaining to me about Good Friday. Do you recall a brief while late in the 20th Century when there was a fad for "crucify" to mean mistreat? There was even a song they used to play a lot on WLIR with the refrain, "Why would you crucify me?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Hey, good morning Meghan and marine mammals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46am
Meghan:

crucify yourself... I remember that one!

Good morning Ken!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47am
Sem:

Giraffes evolved to keep their heads above water, thanks, evolution.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49am
Doug Schulkind:

Looks like we'll have to keep dog-paddling, Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50am
Sem:

Just so, Doug, just so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51am
Meghan:

haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54am
Brian in UK:

Ah Rudyard Kipling and his Just So Stories.
How the Whale Got His Throat — why the larger whales eat only small prey.
How the Camel Got His Hump — how the idle camel was punished and given a hump.
How the Rhinoceros Got His Skin — why rhinos have folds in their skin and bad tempers.
How the Leopard Got His Spots — why leopards have spots.
The Elephant's Child/How the Elephant got his Trunk — how the elephant's trunk became long.
The Sing-Song of Old Man Kangaroo — how the kangaroo assumed long legs and tail.
The Beginning of the Armadillos — how a hedgehog and tortoise transformed into the first armadillos.
How the First Letter Was Written — introduces the only characters who appear in more than one story: a family of cave-people, called Tegumai Bopsulai (the father), Teshumai Tewindrow (the mother), and Taffimai Metallumai, shortened to Taffy, (the daughter). Explains how Taffy delivered a picture message to her mother.
How the Alphabet Was Made — tells how Taffy and her father invent an alphabet.
The Crab that Played with the Sea — explains the ebb and flow of the tides, as well as how the crab changed from a huge animal into a small one.
The Cat that Walked by Himself — explains how man domesticated all the wild animals even the cat, which insisted on greater independence.
The Butterfly that Stamped — how Solomon saved the pride of a butterfly, and the Queen of Sheba used this to prevent his wives scolding him.
The Tabu Tale (missing from most British editions; first appeared in the Scribner edition in the U.S. in 1903).
