	2:26pm northguineahills: Many tropicalia artists fled abroad after the dictatorship coup amped up its censorship/repression after 1970. (i don't even understand lyrics in English, my native tongue, so foreign language music comes easily for me)
	2:27pm Funky16Corners: Both Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso recorded in exile for a few years. You'll hear some of Gil's stuff from that period later in the show

	2:29pm Funky16Corners: I was first put onto it maybe 20 years ago via an import boxed set that included the seminal Tropicalia albums by Gil, Veloso, Gal Costa, Os Mutantes and the group album with Nara Leao and Tom Ze

	2:54pm fred: Yeah, mine are limited. There's a supermarket nearby, but the shelves are usually bare. I go into the nice part of town at times, despite the barriers the mayor put on the sidewalks

	2:56pm northguineahills: Here, there on limits on how many products can buy from the grocer, like canned goods and eggs. But everything except paper products are still around, just not as much as usual. I take long 2-3 hr powerwalks just to get outside.
	2:56pm Funky16Corners: We've found you have to head out early to snag staples like eggs and milk
	2:58pm Erica: They restocked milk and have plenty of bread in my Walmart. Eggs too. They only have 4 pack generic rolls of toilet paper now.
	2:58pm Sem: Looking around for that bottle of cachaça I had, seems about time to get into a Brazilian mood, big time.

	🥁 3:27pm Brian in UK: @Franco, let's kill our own bison and skin them. Been using a bread machine for a long time, on my fourth one. Sixteen kilo bags of Strong Canadian white flour from Costco. Life is simple.

	3:28pm fred: No cooking or baking for me: my stove broke down this week. Not necessarily a bad thing, I'd been putting on pounds

	3:29pm Funky16Corners: The things we calle 'buffalo' in America, the big wooly things, are actually bison. Most 'buffaloes' are like water buffalos
