	10:47am Mark R: Mingus is well-known and well-regarded within the jazz cognoscenti, but to the public at large, I'd say he's relatively unknown. Meaning if you walked up to the average guy on the street and asked him if he's heard of Duke Ellington, he'd say yes, but if you asked him about Charles Mingus, he wouldn't know. So on that basis, I'd say he's underrated. He's right up there with the best of the best, including Bach, Beethoven and Mozart.

After the last band they had free form dancing right on the bowling lanes. On one side of us was Beck dancing by himself, and on the other was Mike Kelly dancing by himself. I pointed this out to her and said "Remember this night."

	10:47am Mark R: Mingus is well-known and well-regarded within the jazz cognoscenti, but to the public at large, I'd say he's relatively unknown. Meaning if you walked up to the average guy on the street and asked him if he's heard of Duke Ellington, he'd say yes, but if you asked him about Charles Mingus, he wouldn't know. So on that basis, I'd say he's underrated. He's right up there with the best of the best, including Bach, Beethoven and Mozart.

After the last band they had free form dancing right on the bowling lanes. On one side of us was Beck dancing by himself, and on the other was Mike Kelly dancing by himself. I pointed this out to her and said "Remember this night."
