"The Graduate" is amazing, but maybe you had to be of that generation, or not far removed from it. Thanks for the Driver comment, I cannot understand the fascination with him. That Coen Bros. movie with him is just their usual gleeful nihilist take on something, this time the folk music scene, just ridiculing everything about it. While I've liked some Coen stuff (Big Lebowski, Fargo) too many of their films is just a bunch of oddball characters that are then humiliated (& killed---see "Burn After Reading") for some sort of weird masochistic thrill. Other awful movies: Robert Altman (who's made some great movies) did "Dr. T. & the Women" (awful) & "Pret-a-Porter" (alleged satire on the fashion industry, w/an all-star cast). Also: "The Love Guru" (Mike Myers disaster, with THREE late-night/political hosts in the cast!).

Good points, @DG. The Coens carry on, but The Love Guru absolutely tanked Mike Myers' career. Aa movie starring a white guying doing a stereotypical Indian accent for laughs would never get green-lighted anymore. But putting all that aside, it was just that wretched...

Peter Sellers was an Indian (in "The Party") & he was funny/sympathetic (of course you couldn't do that today) so it wasn't just that....I mean, by the 10th dick joke in that movie I was ready to go (I saw a free screening, I probably never would've gone otherwise).
