	6:29pm Photocopy Cha Cha: For a Finn like me, it was interesting that Philippe DeBarge /The Pretty Things release had a Finnish connection. A guy called Jorma Saarkangas had the acetate and it was transferred at YLE (finnish broadcasting company) studios by the legendary Pekka Gronow. I learned this only a few days ago as I don't have the record - now I gotta do something about that...

	6:33pm Doug in Boston: Funny think about Norman "Hurricane" Smith was how he later said the psychedelic stuff didn't make any sense to him. Almost a put-down of his own fantastic work. His recording of "Oh Babe What Would You Say?" was a real throwback of the sort that I would guess Paul McCartney appreciated.

	6:40pm cometothesunshine: I don't hate the brass - the mix on Progress is really a mess. I did a lot of work on that for this show to fix it up a bit.

It is easily in my Pretty Things top 5, and mono mixes of 60s stuff are more reasonably made, and often (like in the case of Beatles, Pink Floyd etc.) involved the performers' artistic input.

I'd previously been dissapointed by a lot of her albums but found SO much great stuff hiding in there. The ppl putting on the show told me to stop playing her material so it was more of a personal journey than anything else.

A guy called Jorma Saarkangas had the acetate and it was transferred at YLE (finnish broadcasting company) studios by the legendary Pekka Gronow. I learned this only a few days ago as I don't have the record - now I gotta do something about that...

His recording of "Oh Babe What Would You Say?" was a real throwback of the sort that I would guess Paul McCartney appreciated.

It is easily in my Pretty Things top 5, and mono mixes of 60s stuff are more reasonably made, and often (like in the case of Beatles, Pink Floyd etc.) involved the performers' artistic input.

I'd previously been dissapointed by a lot of her albums but found SO much great stuff hiding in there. The ppl putting on the show told me to stop playing her material so it was more of a personal journey than anything else.
