@StringOFperils - when I was putting the playlist together, my partner said "This sounds very Bladerunner-y" LOL!
Avatar 3:07pm
Linda Lee:

Bladerunnery! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

This is the penultimate chapter of the book ... can you guess what next week is? ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm
StringOFperils:

Your choices resonate, in that case.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Thank you :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm
StringOFperils:

The ultimate chapter of the book?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - maybe ... ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm
StringOFperils:

That opens up a lot of territory for guessing...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm
StringOFperils:

Or...that would be an interesting.aggravating regular segment, just reading the penultimate chapters of books.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I've been slowly whipping my record collection into shape - there are sections that I have no idea what's what, so this is the result of rediscovering some things :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - God, can you imagine that?? Lol!!
"But ... what happens NEXT??" ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm
StringOFperils:

Yes. I like it. And never tell anyone that it's happening. Ha ha ha.
Avatar 3:12pm
Linda Lee:

aren't we lucky! ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I should do a tie-in with Amazon or something. Read the first and the penultimate chapters of books to drum up sales ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
StringOFperils:

Don't give them ideas. They'll start marketing all of it by the ultimate chapters. 'First part's free!'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Oof. No. Good save there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm still noodling with the idea of doing some Facebook Live readings.
Avatar 3:17pm
Linda Lee:

something about the tone of all Larson's music. really spectacular.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's gorgeous, isn't it? I have a shopping list ready for some more :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I believe - although don't quote me - that Sonoton was/is a French library label.
Avatar 3:18pm
Linda Lee:

it really is.
& reading live is a thoroughly fine idea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'll have to remember not to burp or swear in the middle of things - no editing for a live read ;-)
Avatar 3:20pm
Linda Lee:

haha! practice :-)
actually thinking i'll love it just like the live music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I usually record this at about 2am because it's nice and quiet, but there's always one stray motorcycle that goes roaring past.
Cue me shouting "ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING?" lol
Avatar 3:21pm
Linda Lee:

advice from watching other readings: use the best mic you can!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm
StringOFperils:

Interesting area to explore: the possibility of live media events streamed to willing receivers...audio, visual, etc
Avatar 3:22pm
Linda Lee:

sure, i'd sit & do that myself! :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I've had a fabulous time doing the Facebook Live DJing - hopefully another one coming soon :-)
Avatar 3:23pm
Linda Lee:

may i please just come live in this recording? just abandon my entire gig & become these vibes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Linda Lee - you're more than welcome! I shall supply the tea and cakes :-)
Avatar 3:24pm
Linda Lee:

brilliant!! honestly, so done with the battling.
Avatar 3:24pm
Linda Lee:

thank you! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

The record companies are starting to loosen their muting grip - so the DJing is getting easier to do on Facebook Live now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm
StringOFperils:

Hadn't considered that. I WAS thinking that people have learned to congregate digitally on a much broader scale all of a sudden, so that new effect creates new possibilities
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I just finished listening to Graham Norton narrate his first novel on Audible, and it's interesting to me that I can hear pages and belch stifling. I'm not alone ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - every facebook Live I've done so far comes with copyright warnings, and we've all had to restart broadcasts, and then the archive video gets muted.
  3:28pm
Martinibomb:

i got a super tiny computer a raspberry pi yesterday ($35) and I've got it all setup to DJ with so been geeking around with it - got mixxx running on it and it will stream too! crazy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi MB! :-)
Avatar 3:32pm
Linda Lee:

super sensitive mic, no page or belch filter.
we'll never be androids. forget about tech perfection. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I do love reading out loud :-) I used to read in secondary school to the younger kids, so I started early ;-)
I'm definitely looking into books for the blind and organisations like that, but need to find some more projects :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
StringOFperils:

Digital copyright and royalties must be navigable by Facebook; they'd stand to lose if their video platform was of no use to DJs etc...so maybe they're ironing it out?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

If anyone needs some voiceover work, let me know ;-)
Avatar 3:33pm
Linda Lee:

you've got the greatest reading voice, GG. it's always .. just the thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
StringOFperils:

True! An audiobook read by you would work very well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Linda Lee - thank you :-) <3
Avatar 3:34pm
Linda Lee:

being read to is really a great thing. i've forgotten! used to help my soul mate with his work, being read to. i thought i was working! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - they're slowly loosening up, which is good :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm
StringOFperils:

And smart devices. You could be the GPS. Ha ha ha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

"Turn right here ... and buy me some cake" ;-)
Avatar 3:34pm
Linda Lee:

he'd read an entire novel to me in an afternoon & evening. no problems sitting still for it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm
StringOFperils:

Ha ha ha ha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Storytime is such a comforting thing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I've had a couple of people apologise to me for falling asleep in the middle of Modernists ;-)
Avatar 3:36pm
Linda Lee:

speaking of cake. had a friend deliver some boxed meals for me today plus some dry goods donated from our local store. did anyone think of any desert? no! they did not!
Avatar 3:37pm
Linda Lee:

well, folks are so deeply exhausted they'l fall out as soon as they give themselves permission.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

No dessert??? That's just rude
Avatar 3:37pm
Linda Lee:

it's not HWM. it's the rest of their lives.
yes! isn't it! just because i'm helped means i shouldn't have treats?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm
Listener Bob in PGH:

@DJGG 3:32 - Have you looked into librivox.org ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Bob! Yep - that's the one I've been looking at :-)
Avatar 3:38pm
Linda Lee:

and: am i mad to leave a community where people bring me food? that is the question.
  3:38pm
Martinibomb:

there are some good readers on librivox --
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Linda Lee - but think of other communities where you'd get dessert as well ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

They quite literally got his goat. LOL!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm
Listener Bob in PGH:

Excellent! I think it would be a great fit for you! I thought about doing one, but I'm not really a big fan of my voice. When I listen to recordings of myself I realize that I have a lot of enunciation quirks. And a bit of a Southern Californian drawl, or so I've been told.
Avatar 3:41pm
Linda Lee:

ho! thank you love! perfect response! :-)
i'm told, in so many words, that the caring here only goes so far. not just regarding desert, either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Bob - aha! Is that what the PGH refers to?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm
Rich in Washington:

This is brilliant, GeorgyGirl! My favorite pkd novel!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
Rich in Washington:

It's at that ugly, 'I don't know what I'm doing' phase, so this is soothing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Rich - I've just got a new digital radio for the kitchen which has Bluetooth and so I can play WFMU while I cook. Very excited about that :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
Listener Bob in PGH:

I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania now (that's what the PGH stands for). Pittsburghers have a VERY quirky accent and way of speaking and I fear I'm picking that up in addition to my native accent and idiosyncratic issues!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I hate the point where you're so far in to refurbing or painting that you can't go back, but you can't see the end of it.
Avatar 3:46pm
Linda Lee:

i think we're both there today, Rich! :-)
& yes, the music is good for it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Bob - oh!! I see now :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I did have to concentrate *very* hard whenever I read the parts about his goat. I don't know why but it tickled me for some reason ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm

I also have absolutely no idea what an "inguinal region" is
Avatar 3:49pm

Listener Bob in PGH:

@ Fairytale Meadoew - Well, it depends on what you are looking for and what your needs are. It's SUPER cheap and has MOST of the amenities of a medium sized US metro. If you are coming from a larger city then living here is easy (not much competition, traffic, etc.). I love it, but for some reason even though it has a lot to offer it never seems to catch on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

One more track after this, my lovely Modernists. Thank you all so much for listening and chatting :-)
I've had a blast as always!
