This morning's show was recorded using Bandcamp tracks, first time ever since recording the show from home. As you will recall, the shows prior to this were 100% CDs. This show is all from Bandcamp, as I was itching to get to some new stuff.

Fredericks: good morning. Not sure, but I use Paypal to buy tracks from Bandcamp. I suppose they are as secure as anywhere else. It seems that hackers are eventually going to get into everything!

Hello, Jeffrey and all!

@Fredericks: Bandcamp is very secure, you can pay with credit cards, paypal
  7:00am

as secure as paypal is (which is so far so good) bandcamp is solid
  7:00am
clarke:

also there was some brian eno in there, somewhere, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01am

Philip: Freak Zone was unknown to me. Looks worth checking. And thank you. I agree that no one plays the range of music that we do here.

clarke:

speaking of robbie robertson, i have not seen the new doc, but he has NOT been trending well, in recent years. i wonder if this doc is backlash against the backlash???
  7:05am
clarke:

for me, robertson would be in my hall of fame for JUST "filling in" for bloomfield with dylan, let alone his guitar work with The Band
Avatar 7:05am
Ignatatus666:

Greetings Jeffrey
*To expect perfection is in itself a flaw
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06am
Jeffrey Davison:

clarke: I know there is a lot of negative feeling towards Robbie Robertson, and I had harbored some questions about how he was with other members of The Band. I doubt that the doc is a reaction to anything, but I do think that it may change one's thinking about Robertson.
  7:07am
clarke:

but, levon's book was not too kind to robertson's rep, etc
  7:08am
clarke:

i will have to check out the film, but i am kinda burnt-out on docs, these days - TOO MANY! all in the same style/patterns
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08am
Jeffrey Davison:

I would like to read about The Band, since they are one of my all-time favorites (the brown album!) and try to get a more complete picture.
Ignatatus666: good morning, and that's a good one!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10am
Jeffrey Davison:

Roadside Picnic: ooh, that sounds good.
clarke: yeah, a lot of docs out there now, but I feel that I know so little about music, the history and backstory of musicians and recordings. So much to know...
  7:11am
clarke:

the thing about The Band is that there were a lot of books that told 'the myth' - and sometimes ignore the internal dynamics.
  7:12am
clarke:

as The Dude says "new information has come to light, man"
  7:13am
clarke:

some nice woodwinds, here!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13am
Jeffrey Davison:

clarke: ah, I see. I think I'll grab Levon's book. Total respect to Levon Helm...and The Dude abides!
  7:14am
clarke:

well, levon is very bitter about robbie, i shall warn you. but, as far as a player - impeccable.
  7:14am
clarke:

and like any, er, band, they all end up mostly hating each other.
  7:16am
clarke:

one of the saddest moments on film, for me, is in The Last Waltz when scorcese is in the studio with danko and he just has this moment when he ponders life after the break-up - it is pretty heart-rendering.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16am
Jeffrey Davison:

I gotta watch that again...
  7:17am
clarke:

and yes, jeffrey, there is still SO much to learn!!
  7:19am

i might liken that danko scene to, say, the moment in Requiem For A Dream when jennifer connely has to get up on that board-room table...yike.

Brian in UK:

Hello Jeffrey Ruth and souls.

I really miss Rick Danko's voice. Jason Isbell wrote a lovely song 'Danko/Manual', kind of about life on the road but also about two heroes. When I saw Neil Diamond (who is a great songwriter) appearing on the Last Waltz, something seemed odd. Robbie Robertson took full advantage of the close environment of Dylan/Big Pink to learn, and why not. Not a big electric guitar fan so I found his solos tedious, still what a BAND.
  7:36am
clarke:

robbie's solos are great - tis one thing that is unimpeachable about him. they are DOCUMENTED!! danko and manuEl loved each other dearly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am
Brian in UK:

The Band, Live at the Academy of Music has it over Last Waltz any day, because it is, mostly just them. I had this odd feeling that they were a support band at their own memorial.
  7:37am
clarke:

truth brian!! also, robbie produced Diamonds Beautiful Noise album - so that's why he was there
  7:40am
clarke:

also brian - there is great evidence to show that The Band didn't get truly represented live - as their other live collection was in collab with allen toussaint and a horn section.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41am
dale:

morning. liked that last tune and the woman's voice.
  7:41am
clarke:

i guess some of the truth is that they were not getting along very well for several years and needed a "billy preston" to chill things out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42am
Brian in UK:

Yes, I appreciate the contractual obligation touch. Saw them at the Royal Albert Hall, loved the way the drummer went to the mandolin, pianist to drums etc. And it all held together by Garth Hudson.
  7:43am
clarke:

there are a few "new" shows by The Band posted on the youtube, and it is just them - like one playing in a casino ballroom - totally great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44am

The people crying hoax, and the anti-mask-I’d-rather-die-than-lose-my-freedom-protesters, can go get bent.
My father was exposed to the virus while already isolated in a NJ memory care home. He died April 22. Alone in a hospital room, unless the nurse my family and I begged to hold his hand really honored our wish.

Jeffrey Davison:

I agree with your spelling, clarke...that's the way the band is spelling it.
Take care, Brian.

clarke: ha! No. i am always skeptical of this type of band name; seems it might be too easy to get lost in the web...

StringOFperils:

We've been successfully growing lettuce in pots, inside the house, in a window, for the last 6 weeks. It's pretty handy, and I don't have to wonder about industrial pesticides and herbicides when consuming it.

kevlicki:

Tdk60 yup! Last Sunday was our first market back. The Greenmarket staff is doing all they can to create guidelines, it’s an improvement from when all this started. We’re adapting our whole setup to minimize contact and keep physical distance
