It can be hard to not demonize all police, to separate bad police behavior and institutional injustice and the action of individuals who have been given power from those who are not bad actors. Changes needed are both broad and specific. Punishing the "bad cops", yes, but also major social transformations. Err. This soap box is a little too high and narrow some one clumsy with big feet like me. I'll set down now.

@WR. The exercise of might over others goes back to animal roots. How we learn that tame that beast and learn to be one happy family remains unseen. It goes well beyond policing. It's an unwieldy burden for any one person to take on intellectually, and a very complicated global one at that. It has a long history that's braided together with so-called civilization. Fortunately, so does art and music, so we also carry a bright promise on the inside. No quick fix for the bad stuff I'm afraid.

Despite the unrest in the USA there is always someone worse off. Whilst the US were supporting local ground forces in Syria, life in Raqqa was unimaginable. This is a tale by one brave soul risking his life; this was written the year before it was announced that US forces were to be withdrawn, leaving the Kurds to fend for themselves. A harrowing read.

Always think of this tune as Ducky not Tough Tip. Think Ducky is a lovely term of endearment.

@SoP: I think I would need to be sedated. As it was, I felt like I was on the verge of convulsing. I really had no idea.
