Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Alvy Singer:

Just finished reading Ed Sanders book, The Family. Neil nailed it with Revolution Blues.
  12:07pm David in London:

Afternoon Lockers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm steveo:

  12:07pm JakeGould:

Hey Joe! Good Monday to you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm McGroovey:

Joe should do a Ed Sanders/Fugs poet-rock block.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm McGroovey:

'course, there's not much Fug music with powerpopriffin' guitars. But
  12:10pm PJ:

Ken had a good discussion last year with Tom O'Neill, the author of Chaos: Charles Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties. Apparently some members of CSNY had a lot more contact with Manson than anyone wants to let on, and were terrified he would go after them.
Avatar 👻 12:10pm David Shortell:

@Alvy Singer
The 1971 edition with the chapter on the Process Church?
  12:10pm cee dubbles:

caught a post-Tweedy Golden Smog tearing up an encore of Revolution Blues, Louris did it justice
Avatar 12:10pm Joe B:

Neil had a lot of contact with him, and has discussed it though not often. dont know about the other three.

Avatar 👻 12:14pm David Shortell:

Speaking of the Fugs, I ordered the "Live from Café Wha" CD premium during the recent WFMU pledge marathon. Still haven't received it though.
Avatar 12:14pm Doug in JC:

Hey Ceedub, been a while
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Alvy Singer:

I believe Neil is taking to the grave what he knows about Manson/The Family.
Avatar 👻 12:16pm David Shortell:

Another bit from the original printing of "The Family" that was removed from following editions was the reference that Manson "dated" Angela Lansbury's daughter.
  12:17pm Mark in Toronto:

I've never heard this original version before (Say Those Magic Words), I only know the McCoys' cover. Both are excellent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Mike Sin:

I've heard this Birds' track a million times at this point -- it just never gets old!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Alvy Singer:

@David Shortell
It was amazing how many kids of influence fell in with that lot.
  12:19pm Mark in Toronto:

@Mike Sin A MILLION times?

  12:20pm JakeGould:

@MikeSin: Quick callback to another comment chat… Watched a clip of the Neil Diamond “Jazz Singer” when he is a last minute sub for an all black band… Nothing has made me more like being in a deep Brooklyn relative’s house and having to “agree” at how wonderful something crap is more than that one specific scene. Holy moly!

@Mark in Toronto -- The Birds' version is the cover.
Avatar 👻 12:27pm David Shortell:

My favorite Birds song is the one from the movie "The Deadly Bees" that wasn't released on record. I read that in recent years, the singer recorded the song with a new band and released it.
