The lack is not permanent!
the lack is exceptionally evanescent.
Are you upset by how impermanent it is?
Does it tear you apart to see the lack so evanescent?
I saw the the apparent want of my generation destroyed,
How I mourned the dearth.
A dearth is plain. a dearth is visible,
a dearth is ostensible, however.

The Little And Second Encouragement

Whose encouragement is that? I think I know.
Its owner is quite sad though.
It really is a tale of woe,
I watch him frown. I cry hello.

He gives his encouragement a shake,
And sobs until the tears make.
The only other sound's the break,
Of distant waves and birds awake.

Thought I'd check this out finally (still awake)... and I'm hearing something on the http://68.196.253.35:8000/stream/swyh.mp3 stream. But no playlist yet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm Candy-O'67:

Hey, Firebottle! The show will start at midnight. Owl should be coming on soon. Hopefully there will be a show tonight. Maybe not. We'll see :) Usually Owl has something up by now
  11:51pm Firebottle:

OK.. this feels like tuning in some obscure shortwave radio broadcast...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm Candy-O'67:

Some nights Owl is live and other nights, I think it's just recorded. Tonight may end up being a recorded night, but people can still chat, just songs might not be listed.
Avatar 11:59pm Last Ave San Francisco:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05am Candy-O'67:

Hey, Otis. I think this one isn't live tonight, not going to be a list of the music. If we don't see Owl Sun interacting, it's pre-recorded tonight. That happened over the weekend one night. Bummer!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05am Candy-O'67:

Thank you, Ojai John!!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13am Otis Fodder:

Yep, repeat. Ah well. Sticking around for a little longer here but will pop in tomorrow with fingers crossed. Crashed out early last night. Just after Midnight here in Montreal.

Last Ave... listener since 1999 when I could catch the stream from Seattle (where I was at the time) and before that used to get the old LCD mag and Catalog they sent out of Curiosities in the mid-1990s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am Candy-O'67:

I do, Last Ave! I especially have been more in the past year, as well. Most of my favorite shows have been on the Ichiban stream
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am Otis Fodder:

But yes, super into college radio here too. KFJC in the bay is still an all-time fav. Along with KEXP in Seattle (and before when they were KCMU)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42am Candy-O'67:

Glad my theory was incorrect! ;)
  12:42am Firebottle:

Just wondering... for those in the know... all past Ichiban programs will still be available for streaming on WFMU's website?
Avatar 12:42am The Ayatolluh of Rock 'n Rolluh:

Don't know what I asked for, but since I got it I give it to you Candy, boogie chillin boogie

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49am Candy-O'67:

Just a fan here!
Avatar 12:50am The Ayatolluh of Rock 'n Rolluh:

I'm on a work furlough myself. If I listen to the radio enough I get time off for good behavior.
Avatar 12:50am DA the DJ:

Some are and some aren't. I've been a fill-in DJ on FMU over the air for years
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am Otis Fodder:

I have a show over on the Sheena stream and years ago posted a bit on the blog.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am Candy-O'67:

I do personally know a few of the DJ's, Glynis and Richard Whig and Vikki Vaden
  12:50am Firebottle:

Ok, thanks DA the DJ, just took for granted Ichiban's archive for the past 10 years... didn't want it to suddenly disappear.
Avatar 12:51am DA the DJ:

It won't
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52am Candy-O'67:

What kind of work do you do Rolluh? If you want to share...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52am Otis Fodder:

Super happy the archives will remain as it's an endless voyage discovering shows in the archives, many that dropped off the varied streams over the years but still have archives up for continual listening.
Avatar 12:52am The Ayatolluh of Rock 'n Rolluh:

It used to be the devils work, but you know...the wages of sin don't pay that much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am Candy-O'67:

I love the archives too. So amazing!
Avatar 12:53am DA the DJ:

Debbie D. deserves all the credit for making a great stream. I think she'll take Ichiban on to bigger and better things.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am Candy-O'67:

I see. That's ok if you don't want to share. We still love you anyway ;))
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am Candy-O'67:

I bet she will, too, DA!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am Candy-O'67:

Avatar 12:55am Last Ave San Francisco:

That is so cool everybody. I really have been a fan of collage radio most of my life. WMBR , WZBC ,AND WFMU are my favs . there are not enough hours in the day to listen. I archive a lot and listen at all times. even when I make music I have music going in the back. Somtimes more than one thing at once. I like Maximalism! everything all the time!
Avatar 12:55am The Ayatolluh of Rock 'n Rolluh:

Avatar 12:59am The Ayatolluh of Rock 'n Rolluh:

Any time ;)
Avatar 12:59am Ojai John:

I had a nice text chat with Michael Shelley about the Ichiban rift at the station . He is supporting Ken
“At this point I'm not sure what Debbie wants - it's been made clear she can take the name if she wants it..If she personally wants to get back on WFMU, then FB is not the way.”
Avatar 1:02am The Ayatolluh of Rock 'n Rolluh:

I believe Willy Wonka summed up the rift best from Ken's POV; "Oh no. Please Debbie, stop."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02am Otis Fodder:

Yay, Candy-O!
Avatar 1:02am Ojai John:

Yay Candy!
Avatar 1:03am The Ayatolluh of Rock 'n Rolluh:

Amy's ice cream is real good in Austin. They have several locations around town. Everytime my now 12 yr old niece comes to visit me, we go about every day and I'm so sick of it by the time she leaves!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36am Candy-O'67:

Yep! So cool you were out for a visit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am Candy-O'67:

Otis, you need to get down here! Of course after this Covid is over, but it's a great city! I love it here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38am Candy-O'67:

I love KOOP radio here! They have some fabulous shows, too, which most of them aren't going right now because of Covid
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39am Otis Fodder:

That's what I've heard by so many. Would love to visit one day. Trips on my future agenda are to NYC to see friends by train... and fly to the bay (my pop is in Oakland) and family up in Reno.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39am Candy-O'67:

I don't know KAOS, Otis. But I'm not from here either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39am Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

It was my second time in Austin (1994 was the last time), and we were visiting my girlfriend's childhood friend. He took us to Black's BBQ. Oh my!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41am Otis Fodder:

I love BBQ.

KAOS is internet only these days, used to be on the FM dial. Checking out KOOP now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42am Otis Fodder:

Speaking of stations... Granny... mentioned KFJC in Los Altos Hills earlier in tonight's thread. Love that bay area station.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42am Candy-O'67:

Nice, Granny! Austin was really cool in the '90s. I lived in Houston then and used to come up a lot on the weekends. It's changed a lot since then, but I still love it

KOOP has a steam going all the time and see of their shows are still going, but the shows that are going are the ones where the DJs can record from home. I'm not really into the stream they have going because a lot of it is two singer-songwriter-y for me
