Good morning! I have that t-shirt too but I got it in the wrong size (too small), so it's in the bundle that is going to get repurposed or upcycled someday. We are getting a break from the heat today after a rainy day yesterday, it's nice.

Morning Kat. Ooooh, saw you on Phil in '84! You rock or punk ... Loved the dropped term, 'punkers' ... ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am
Kat in Chicago:

Heehee, you found it! Yes, that Phil show was a kind of Chicago sequel to an earlier show he'd done with "Parents of Punkers" in LA.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am
Kat in Chicago:

I identified more with "new wave" myself. Most of my friends were proto-goth types who thought I wore too much color.

I am theoretically going to be back on the Chicago college radio airwaves next week - WLUW is letting me pre-record my show at home and supposedly their automation will play it in the time slot. Put together a playlist last night, making first attempt to record tonight! I got a better showtime too, Monday 8-10 instead of 10-midnight, at least temporarily.

I also like Sonderangebot's avatar - obviously!

Numbers, Kat. So funny how we found out about the party, too. Hilarious story. I'll tell it in a nutshell. My best friend was sitting on the side of the stage the whole show. We couldn't find her when the show was over. Next thing we know, here goes a pickup truck flying by with her in the back shouting, "Party with Revco at the Allen Parkway Inn" - we were cracking up. It was so funny. So, there we went!
Avatar 12:23pm
Linda Lee:

Wiki: "The Image is a 1969 black and white short film directed by Michael Armstrong with starring Michael Byrne and David Bowie in his first film role. The film is one of the few short films ever to receive a certified 'X' Rating and it gained this rating due to its violent content." it's not very violent at all, compared to today's films. i see it as an examination of repressed desire.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm

Thanks, Linda. Will have to find it!

Candy, I think I would have been scared to party with Revco! (Chris Connelly is a sweetheart, though.) I didn't really talk to Al when we did the show, but we ran into each other a few years later at Smart Bar and had a good laugh about the experience.

It's pretty good, Kat. I used to visit a lot back in those days when I lived in Houston. Then I moved to CA in '99 for 14 1/2 years. Moved here in 2014. It's even changed a lot since I moved here. It's not as quaint as it used to be, a lot of the cool old places are gone, but that's happening everywhere now with cities selling out to corporate America. Wow, '81! That's before my time to even visit Austin. I was still in junior high then. First time I came to Austin was my college days :) It was really fab back then, I know. I loved it here in the late '80's and '90's. It's grown so much since then. They've built a lot of skyscrapers since those days

i'm looking out for a place to winter over this year & i'm wondering if i could do so affordably in Texas! is this a foolish quest? i do know the state is large .. not monochromatic..

if Austin's changed the way New York has.. enough said. i'm told i wouldn't recognize my home town now'days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
Candy-O'67:

Oh, you could totally do that. Austin isn't that cheap anymore, but down in the Valley and by the Gulf Coast or out West you could surely find something. The warmest part in winter is the Valley (McAllen area) or very tip of Gulf Coast - South Padre Island, Brownsville

I couldn't take winter like that either. Anywhere is TX, then, would be better than that! We rarely get even 20-30 degree weather. It's mostly 40's - 60's in the winter here and only snows once in every few years and doesn't even stick 24 hours
