Hi Irene, hello one and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am annie:

i think i was able to get a front row seat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Irene Trudel:

Welcome Sean and all Drummer listeners!
Avatar 12:00pm βrian:

Here we are, royally speaking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Irene Trudel:

Yes, a front row seat for all, Annie and βrian.
Avatar 12:02pm TDK60:

Hello Irene. Whoa, quite an auspicious commencing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

hey there, Irene and folx! Front seats all the way! (except for those who prefer the back row, you know who you are) great to be here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Doug Schulkind:

Irene and sound, a perfect pair!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Irene Trudel:

Hey, the listening party is growing! Hi to you, TDK60, Granny and Doug.
Avatar 12:04pm TDK60:

What?! I've not "clicked" this in the past? Silliness publicly revealed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Irene Trudel:

Clicked what, TDK60?
Avatar 12:11pm TDK60:

Irene, the Love song. I'm not an I-have-to-click-a-lot-of-tunes kind of guy but not "favoriting" You Set The Scene? I am merely tardy, is my defense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Good morning (-ish), Irene!
Avatar 12:14pm Really Lisa:

Hello Irene and everyone :) Mtg had me miss the start!
Avatar 12:14pm TDK60:

I've seen Shearwater a few times over the past several years. One show was their interpretation of Bowie's Lodger album. Great band.
Avatar 12:15pm Martinibomb:

Hi Irene! Hello to TDK, Doug and Gran and other listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm alanr:

it's gonna be a week of rain here in Mexico City. Perfect for social distancing! Thanks for the musical sunshine, with occasional clouds!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Hey hey Martinibomb is here!
Avatar 12:18pm Malcolm:

hi irene and all!
Avatar 12:18pm Sem:

Hello, Irene, Trudelists, and all.
Avatar 12:18pm TDK60:

Good morning Granny, Martini, any other leftcoasters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm annie:

@ TDK, i'm always amused when i hear something i like, go to click it and there it is!! already clicked
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Irene Trudel:

I see, TDK60. Love that Love song. HI Summer and Michael and Sylvia, Really Lisa, Martinibomb, alanar, Sem and Malcom. The time of day is all relative, just nice that you're all here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

We're all here Now!
Avatar 12:22pm TDK60:

Irene, I've heard people posit that Forever Changes is one of the great albums. In times of meditation I ponder this, and tend to agree.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm brainiac:

I guess I'm overdue for some discipline
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Irene Trudel:

hey braniac! TDK60, I have to agree. At the break I'll tell my Arthur Lee story from back when he appeared on Nicholas Hill's Music Faucet back in the 1990s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm annie:

ok,i have to water the greenies and chat them up. they don't mind my bad breath..then to sort that cluttered chair out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

TDK60: Forever Changes is one of my favorites—found for $1 at a library sale in Longview Washington in the mid-80s when i was a teen. I had NO CLUE what it was, but i couldn't stop listening.
Avatar 12:26pm TDK60:

Yeh annie, one's clickin' history sometimes amuses.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Irene Trudel:

annie, I'll provide a good soundtrack for all that activity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm annie:

i've suggested tht to acoupledjs here, irene. or, fora find-raising bonus, to have a 2-3 cd set made and sorted by one of youse guys..i'd pay extra for that!
Avatar 12:33pm Martinibomb:

@gran I got my zine makin' tools out right now putting a sheena zine together I'll send it to ya later
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm annie:

so, i'm sitting here sippin'on my elevenses, carefully tipping the glass back-one-handed..yet ifind myself lightly touching he glass to steady some tremor i've developed...i have become the trump! and he is i!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm annie:

@ 12:32, to clarify: to have a cd made of all my clicky-star choices
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm doctorjazz:

Hi all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm brainiac:

@Irene Trudel: Thanks for that great Arthur Lee story.
Avatar 12:43pm TDK60:

Fun Arthur story. I think I heard another WFMU DJ had him on once and Lee barked.
Avatar 12:43pm Martinibomb:

cool story!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm doctorjazz:

Sounds a bit like a Slavic Joni Mitchell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Irene Trudel:

@doctorjazz, Dorota Barová is a Czech cellist. So pretty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi Irene! Nice music for a hot day!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Henry (and welcome)!
Avatar 1:02pm gongoleer:

G'day Irene and everyone from hot sunny 86 degrees Vermont. Lame computer made me late. Cool sounds will help. Thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm doctorjazz:

Silo is lovely!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Irene Trudel:

Hi gongoleer! It's about that hot here in NYC. doctorjazz, I met Volker Goetze backstage at a Randy Weston concert several years ago and he turned me on to this lovely work he was doing with Cissoko and others.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Martinibomb: just saw your Sheena's zine comment! YES! WOW!
Avatar 1:27pm gongoleer:

@ Irene. Did you get to hear Ackerman's group, The Flow? Love this guitar work I'm hearing now on the program.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm doctorjazz:

Frisell changed guitar playing, such a unique style. Watched his documentary a while back (think it was on Netflix), such a humble soul...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm doctorjazz:

Added the Goetz to my cart...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Irene Trudel:

No, gongoleer, I'd had so many distractions durting the wee I just plain forgot. I'll try to make a point to seek it out. @doctorjazz, I didn't know about the Frisell documentary. As you might tell, I'm a big fan. Over the years I've had a few chances to help record him for New Sounds/Soundcheck. A sweet man but not a gret interview subject. He's a bit shy.
Avatar 1:34pm TDK60:

Got to see Salif K. in Central Park several years back.
Avatar 1:36pm gongoleer:

@Irene. No sweat. Whenever. Living in NYC it's easy to get distracted. I know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Irene Trudel:

Salif Keita is an amazing, riveting performer. What a voice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm doctorjazz:

It's true, he's a clumsy interview subject. But the documentary did have enough of him playing to make it worth watching (my problem with most music docs is that they don't have enough music in them).
Here's a link...i I believe it is still on Netflix, also Amazon Prime
www.billfrisellfilm.com
Avatar 1:57pm TDK60:

I saw Loudon W.III at Cafe Au Go Go when he was starting out, in the prior century. I forget who he opened for. You could tell he would be around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Great show, as ever, Irene! We've got to head out for a bit, so will miss the last hour live but are looking forward to hearing the entire show a second time on the archive! Thank you! Sending love!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Irene Trudel:

Yeah, that's a big complaint of mine too, doctorjazz. One of my favorite shows that I helped record was his trip live to films Bill Morrison created out of found footage. Morrison used Frisell's music to assemble the films, and felt that it worked best to use the same music instead of creating a new soundtrack.
Avatar 2:04pm gongoleer:

I too heard him in 1969 or 70 and think it was same venue. Down a few steps across street from Cafe Figaro. Maybe TDK60 & I were in same audience. TDK60 do you recall Charles John Quarto? He also played there.
Avatar 2:07pm gongoleer:

Might have been Cafe Wha! Memory is somewhat foggy.
Avatar 2:08pm TDK60:

Gongoleer, How about that? I don't recall C.J.Q. I saw many shows in the Cafe A.G.G., all incredible. Yet I never went to the Figaro. The Cafe A.G.G. was right across the street from The Bitter End which is still there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Summer and Michael and Sylvia. Stay cool! TDK60 and gongoleer, I've been listening to Louden since the "Dead Skunk" days, and I really enjoy his live shows.
Avatar 2:14pm TDK60:

And Cafe Wha is still there but it's on MacDougal. Bitter End on Bleecker.
Avatar 2:15pm gongoleer:

TDK60. Now you've jogged my memory. It was Cafe Wha across street from Cafe Figaro( a Lebanese owned venue) om McDougal where I saw Loudon & CJQ. Check him out. Mostly a poet and wrote back liner poem for Stephen Stills's album with Stephen on cover. Don't recall the name right now. Irene, Dead Skunk is what Loudon performed night I heard him. Ahhh the good ole days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Irene Trudel:

I still have a 45 of Dead Skunk from my high school radio days.
Avatar 2:22pm gongoleer:

You must have quite a collection of music. Like me I hardly discard anything recorded. I still have many boxes of cassettes and of course 45's, lip's and even 78's. Well, I did once own a record store too.
  2:35pm Dean:

I wonder if Guitars in Space is the wrong band name. How about Guitars A Go Go? https://guitarsagogo.bandcamp.com/

Anyway, it reminded me of Timo Lane's Symphonic Slam.
  2:35pm Dean:

Yeah, that was Guitars A Go Go, "Smash Hits."
Avatar 2:36pm βrian:

"There were spaces between Donald and whatever he said ..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Listener Dean! That was me putting together Gyan Riley's new album title with the band name.
  2:48pm Dean:

That's called a mash-up!
Avatar 2:48pm Malcolm:

Music From Saharan What'sApp 6 sounds like an intriguing comp
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm annie:

irene!!! you were right! i got everything done with time to spare...great soundtrack for the afternoon!
Avatar 2:52pm TDK60:

Thanks Irene!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm doctorjazz:

Thanks, Irene, enjoyed the show!
Avatar 2:55pm Really Lisa:

Thank you, Irene. The show is a boost for sure. Coincidentally this Elise Morris is indeed timely.. didn't know I was in for a bout of heavy stuff going on today; your choices of tunes are helping...
Avatar 2:55pm Malcolm:

great show :D
  2:56pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

Thanks for a great show, Irene
Avatar 2:56pm gongoleer:

Kudos Irene. Never a dull track. Cooled me off. Made a pledge. Have good week everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Irene Trudel:

Malcolm, Sahael Sounds has been putting a few of these compilations, recorded entirely on What'sApp by musicians who otherwise don't have access to a recorder. Some of them are quite good.
Avatar 2:57pm Malcolm:

thanks Irene! I will check it out. Great show by the way!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm annie:

thnk you thankyou thankyou!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks for listening in today everybody! Let's do this again next Monday (and Saturday, filling in at 5pm for Gina's Someday Matinee).
Avatar 3:00pm gongoleer:

Will try for Saturday. Thanks.
