I'm sure Cat hated having so many of the arrangements of his tunes out of his hands in the early days, but his "Deram days" are incredible. "Matthew and Son" is one of my favorite LPs of the '60s.

Richard Whig:

hey hey! goodbye June Gloom and hello summer!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm
Mike Sin:

I think Cat liked the songs -- he knew they were good -- but I don't think he ever liked the lush arrangements and additions. As soon as he got out of his Deram contract (and recovered from those horrible illnesses), the whole approach changed. I think Samwell-Smith stated that Cat came in stating what he wanted changed from his Deram days.
Avatar 6:48pm
cometothesunshine:

Yeah, Mike. I think he did enjoy being a pop star at first, but that faded in 12 months. Then he got TB and changed his style.
